Trip Report Two goofs and an orange bird conquer the world.

Hello all!

I’ve finally found a little time to patch together a trip report from our trip in mid June. It was just the wife(A), and I(Dave)on this trip. We started out at Yacht Club, then went down the road to that other place in Orlando for a few days, before finishing up with a stay at the poly. Along the way we laughed, we cried, we survived many storms, and endured some brutal heat! Let the shenanigans begin!

Sunday June 16

We took two days to drive down from Texas, arriving on the 16th. I won’t bore you with the details of our long, mostly boring trip.

We made it on property by mid morning. Our room wasn’t ready, so we headed into Epcot in search of something to eat. We had an early lunch at Les Halles. I had the jambon beurre, and A had a B.L.T. We were super hungry from our morning drive, and didn’t take any pictures. My sandwich was fine, A really liked hers.

We split this thing for dessert. It was delicious!

After lunch we strolled around a very empty world showcase just taking in the sights and sounds of each pavilion. We also came across a few PP photographers along the way

Notice the increasing amount of sweat on my shirt as we progressed. It was only around 11:45 and it was already sweltering! Also you may notice A is wearing an orange bird backpack in a few photos. The orange bird will be making several appearances later in the report. Some friends of ours bought it for her as a thank you for coming down to photograph their engagement in March, because it was so inconvenient for us to come to Disney! 🤣. Anyways we sent our friends pictures of orange bird doing various activities with us throughout the trip, which will be appearing here later

I will never get mac and cheese at a store or restaurant. My family and I will only eat my grandmother's (recipe) mac and cheese. The only thing my adult children ask me to make for holiday meals. I have to make sure to make twice as much as necessary so they have extra to take home!
Homemade is the way to go for sure! My wife has an awesome recipe, that she of course got from her mother! I’ll eat store and restaurant mac and cheese, but I could take or leave most of it.

Oh I love a good Mac and cheese. I wouldn’t dine at liberty tree tavern specifically for that though. I hear homecomin at Disney springs has good Mac and cheese. I may try that one day. Wish it was anywhere but Disney Springs, I do not like the springs.
IM also not a huge fan of the springs, I feel like im cheating on the parks, and loosing parks time ha! However on our last trip we met friends that live down there now for supper, and THERES A CUPCAKE VENDING MACHINE!!!!!! sorry that likely made the entire night acceptable ha!

Friday June 28 continued.

We spent the evening just kind of wandering around trying to enjoy the evening atmosphere of the park one last time and grabbing a few last minute souvenirs. We were both starting to feel the end of trip blues a bit.

We did the fireworks dessert party with garden view that evening. I was excited about this offering. We did the dessert party years ago but the Tomorrowland Terrace view isn’t good, this seemed like a much better idea.

All you can eat cheeseburger spring rolls! That was enough to sell me! The spread here was actually pretty good, and we were free to come and go as we liked through the evening.

Eventually we made our way over to the viewing area.

Everyone was having a nice time sitting in the fake grass and visiting. We ended up making friends wit a family next to us playing a Disney trivia game of some sort. For some reason about a minute before the show started a CM came along and told everyone they had to stand up for the fireworks. Of course a few people up front complied, and the rest of us had no choice. Kinda lame.

After the fireworks we just hung out in the hub, watching the mass exodus. We slowly made our way out after the crowds thinned a bit. We headed to the room to pack our things.

I wonder why they said you had to stand for the fireworks. Sitting in the fake grass seemed like a much better idea🤪
If everyone in our area remained seated(or stood along the back rail) we all had a great view of the castle. I’m sure someone would’ve stood up and blocked everyone’s view at some point anyways, so it wasn’t really a big deal. I’m so tall I rarely have trouble getting a good view from anywhere, fortunately A was able to stand up against the railing to get a good view!

Saturday June 29. Final day.

Having been at WDW for the better part of two weeks. We certainly had no plans for the morning. We decided to head over to MK for the morning before heading home. We really didn’t take many pictures that morning so this will be short and sweet.

Speaking of sweet. We had Cheshire Cat tails for breakfast!

We finally got a ride on seven dwarves mine train. I’m too tall to be comfortable on this ride. But still somewhat enjoy it.

We had to get one last trip through the mansion.

We also caught the country bears and pirates.

We of course had to do splash one last time. We were having a blast yet also dreading having to leave soon.

After splash we decided to make the peoplemover our last ride of the trip.

We finished our trip with this artery clogger at cosmic rays. It was actually really good!

After our burger it was time to make our way out of the park. We made the slow painful March down Main Street and were in a monorail headed to the poly in no time. Fittingly the rain began to pour as we pulled out of the parking lot and headed home.

We had an absolutely amazing trip, and fortunately do have another trip planned for December, we can’t wait to see everything decked out for the holidays!

On a sadder real life note, this post was delayed because A’s father passed away last week after a lengthy battle with cancer. We were all sad to lose him, but are glad that he is no longer suffering. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as we adjust to life without him.

Great TR!! I really enjoyed it & I hope you'll do one for your next trip!!

Sorry for your loss. I will keep you all in my prayers. I lost my mom earlier this year to cancer also. It is a relief that the suffering is over for them but it is not easy adjusting to life without them. Hang in there.
