Two big new features coming soon to MyMagic+

Ugh, I hope there is a way to opt out of the "personalized" things. I don't ever want its a small world to talk about where I live for example or for a Hitchhiking Ghost to call me by name. :hungover:

Don't wear a major band and ask for an RFID card. That way you can still open the hotel door, enter park, fast pass etc.., but there are no chips in it that would interact with the attractions. The downside is you also wouldn't have ride photos linked to you either.

I hope that I'm wrong, but I bet that you will not be able to "hop" with your 4th, 5th, etc. FastPass. They will have to be for attractions in the same park as your original 3 were for.

This is just a guess by me and hasn't been confirmed or denied by any employee of the Disney corporation including bus drivers.

Once again, I hope I'm wrong. It would be really cool to score FastPasses for Tower of Terror after spending a day at Epcot!

You can already get a 4th in another park if you are at the kiosk in that park. I am not sure it would change to be only in the same park. If it does this, it would be a step back unless the ability to use a kiosk is still there when someone is in the other park.

I feel like I'm hearing mixed answers regarding existing functionality. Can someone answer this question regarding the current (kiosk) system:
If I'm in the MK in the morning and use all 3 Fastpasses, can I visit a kiosk in the MK and make a 4th Fastpass for an attraction in, say, AK?

I am thinking specifically of Rivers of Light and my upcoming trip in the 1st week of May. I'm hoping that Rivers of Light opens but as it stands we don't currently have any plans that have us at AK in the evenings (because they currently close early). It would be great if we could go to MK in the morning, use our 3 Fastpasses there, and then reserve a Rivers of Light showing before we leave MK for a rest break.

Obviously, the ability to make additional reservations for another park via the app would be much appreciated also.

As it currently stands, no.

The extra 4th, 5th etc FP+ can only be made for the park you are currently in.

If you started in MK, used your 3 FP+ there and want to get your 4th FP+ in Epcot, you have to enter Epcot and go to a kiosk there to do so.

Rob - Thanks for clarifying. That is how I understood it but some of the previous replies to this post made me wonder if it worked differently.

The big question however is, will this change once the 4th FP+ can be selected on the app, will it look at your GPS position, or which park gate u last Entered, or... Will it allow you to chose any park thus disregarding where u used the first 3 FP+.

And that's a question that can't be answered until either the function is turned on in the parks and people can report on using it, or Disney puts out official information. Anything else is pure speculation.

And if you want *my* speculation... ;) I'd say that at least for now, it'll operate exactly like the kiosks do, just with your phone. So only for the park that the front gate ticket system sees you as currently being in. There's too many variables involving Guests who don't know the property and how long it takes to get between parks.

I know that. I'm a Florida Resident Passholder so I already have both a AP ticket and AP magic band. Room key nor charging isn't applicable and I don't use Photopass/Memory Maker so remote photo capture doesn't matter either. That said, a band is relatively easy in terms of not having to put down my camera and root around in my wallet for the ticket so I tend to just wear it for convenience. I would hope that one need not give up the band entirely just to avoid the creepy personalized options. I would hope it's something that can be disabled or customized in your MDE account. (For example, editing your hometown or preferred name, etc.)

Finally, it was always painful to stand in line behind people who seemed to be using a computer for their first time...

I think you should have to be in the park that you are making the fastpasses for. I think that if you're in NK you should only have access to extra MK passes. Once you've used all 3 of your MK passes and you've entered Epcot, you should now be able to use your phone to book any Epcot pass. People should not be able to tie up all of the other park passes while sitting in another park.

It's no different than people "tying up" Fastpasses in any given park 60 days ahead of time. In fact, it's an even fairer situation, because you'd only be able to book it once you've used your first three, which means it's for the second half of the day. Everyone in the parks would have already had ample time to book what they wanted.

I will only see this advancement as a positive if it permits park-hopping. Would have been very handy in January. Epcot in the morning with wife, baby, and my mom. Nap after lunch. To MK that night. It had rained all week, so we didn't get to use our Big Thunder FPs. Would have been nice to be able to book one after finishing at Epcot, for later that day. But instead, we had to wait until we actually went to the MK after nap time, and they were only available for after baby's bedtime.

And that's a question that can't be answered until either the function is turned on in the parks and people can report on using it, or Disney puts out official information. Anything else is pure speculation.

But I don't see that as any different than those same guests having any idea which park is which when they're booking them 60 days out.

Finally, it was always painful to stand in line behind people who seemed to be using a computer for their first time...

I was one of those people in January. Except it was because the kiosk wouldn't detect my finger. I flagged a CM down, and he said, "You have to use your finger nail on this one." Long process.

No kidding. This had always been my biggest gripe with the FP. Lines are either ridiculous at those queues or I get behind people who have no idea what they are doing and asking CM for descriptions of every single attraction.

Yesterday, I was in a partner company training and when the option goes live, your additional FP+ selections can be in a new park if you would like. That was explicitly stated to us as a feature to present to our guests. They didn't give us a live date though, just stating "very soon this spring."

Ugh, how is it NOT creepy? You're on a ride, minding your own business and the sign comes up with your name on it! Or your name and hometown? Ew. Big Brother much? I find that downright creepy and I don't need every person in the ride with me knowing my name and home city! It should be MY choice whether or not to share that kind of information. Which is why I sincerely hope we can disable this kind of "feature."

Hmm, I don't find it creepy at all. I seriously doubt that any of them would have your entire name and hometown displayed for anyone to see. The picture above in IASW shows only the first names of what is probably everyone in that boat. How would the other riders know which one is you? Also, I can almost guarantee that Disney will offer some sort of opt-out in the MDE website for this, and if not, I guess you go back to the RFID cards.

I find it weird that you like the MBs, but are creeped out by a feature that was touted as one of the best uses of them.
