Twinkle Light Question

Ladies and Gents,

I have finally recreated the Walt Disney World twinkle light effect that we love so much. I simply purchased G6 E12 blinker bulbs (the ones they use at Disney,) strung them in C7 stringers, and have 12 Volt power running to them. The effect is very nice, but since I'm testing it in a small tree, it looks more concentrated than in the parks. Anyway, below are two videos on youtube that I made of the installation so y'all can see.

Enjoy! Great Success!

Has anyone seen a suitable ready made solution in stores this year?

Target has a display with clear twinkle lights that seem to blink slowly and randomly, possibly every fifth bulb "twinkles". Hard to judge the exact effect by the in store display though and the bulbs are smaller than the park lights.

You bumped this thread with your first post.
Do these old threads never die? I feel it;s time to cull the herd. Maybe I'll check back in 2 years for a response.

Oh, Welcome the the boards, please enjoy you stay.

Actually, I'm glad this thread came up again.

This past Christmas, I purchased a set of clear, randomly twinkling C7 bulbs. I set the bulbs into a C7 accepting socket and strung them on a small pine in my front yard. The effect was very nice but could have been done better had I spaced the bulbs further away.
I purchased only 1 set (25) from lonestartradingcompany.com as a test and plan to purchase a couple more to cover the entire tree.

Actually, it appears that you're the one who bumped this thread after a year and a half hiatus!

Oh where oh where is my twinkle light effect? : )

<Bump> for those of us who think that there's a source for these lights on the internet now for easy purchase?

Only interested in similar effect - not exact bulbs; did we decide that buying any twinkling light set and removing every 4th or 5th bulb does it?

Thanks!

Twinkle Lights at Magic Kingdom

Big news!! A company called mattmurphyeventlighting.com has the exact twinkle lights that can be found in the trees throughout the Magic Kingdom and Downtown Disney.

Someone a couple of blocks away from me has the exact same ones in a tree near their garage (probably an Imagineer).

You can make your own twinkle strings with stringers and individual twinkle bulbs. Unless you can find the 25 or 50-socket strings at your local big-box store, you'll have to order a whole spool of string from a commercial supplier. The smallest I've found is 500-feet. The good part, though, is you can make custom lengths of string that suits your purpose... just don't have too-many bulbs on the same string (< 100 per string is safe with 5 watt bulbs).

Here's links to the goods from Action Lighting, but you can find them elsewhere too:

Twinkle bulbs: http://www.actionlighting.com/c7-twinkle-christmas-bulb/
Light stringers: http://www.actionlighting.com/c7-c9-string-light-500ft-rolls/

Make sure you match the bulb type to the socket in the stringer: C7 bulb in a matching C7 socket. Same for C9--use C9 sockets. C7s are the same base as standard night lights and C9s are like what's used in fancy candelabra light fixtures--the BIG old-school type of Christmas lights.

The remaining twinkle lights in the hub were removed from the trees last week. Don't think they'll be coming back.
