Twinkle Light Question

Glad you guys like the pics, BUT, the main question is still not answered. Where the hell can we get these? I've been through many online retailers, and NO ONE has them. The closest thing in the local stores are called "globe" lights, but alas, those aren't them either.

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the ones in Wal-Mart that are labeled as "twinkle." I bought an icicle box strand which said twinkle, but they STROBE. It's very horrible and impossible to watch. It's flickery and harsh and we took them down.

I'm tyring to find more fade/softblink ones so the hunt continues today actually.

But, just a warning the "twinkle" ones at Wal-Mart are horrible!

Twinkle Lights

Disney uses twinkle lights manufactured by a firm named DKI. You can purchase them at Nelson's Holiday Enchantment in Orlando according to guest relations.

Now I can't wait until the Christmas season rolls back around. Although, these would be beautiful lights to have hidden in the trees year round.

Thanks so much for finding that number!

Anyone call and get a price on them? If they're cheap enough, I may have to do some decorating on my trees... these lights really look great all year, not just for Christmas time. If your neighborhood will allow it. Come to think of it, I doubt Celebration will allow it either. They're so darn strict. They wouldn't even approve a satellite dish for Direct TV to be put on the neighbor's house. They pay a fine every month. LMAO. Gotta love Celebration. :)

My plan is for all year. I will add something for Christmas, but the lights will help make my yard look magical.

I am going to call about the lights either monday or tuesday.

I called and have some sad news.

First, Nelson's Holiday Enchantment told me they are OUT of the lights and will not be getting any more because they are shutting business down.

They told me the lights sold for $8.95 per string of 30 lights and that they are manufactured by a company called "GKI". They claimed these are the same lights used in the magic kingdom trees.

I will try to locate them from the manufacturer and will report back on what I find.

They sparkle like pixie dust. They twinkle like fireflies. They bring magic and merriment to festive occasions any day of the year.

You can direct these tiny Micro Lights to perform their dazzling dance in eight different ways, from steady light to slo-glo and more! Don't miss the sensation of Micro Lights adorned trees, wreaths and yes, even kissing balls!

Ok... so, where are the lights to be found?

I am looking for them as well. I don't want LEDs, I want smallish incandescent bulbs for the trees in my yard.

I do know how to make LEDs do this, however.

If you need plans for an LED solution email me, I designed a little circuit for doing subtle fadeouts when I built some fiber optic concrete blocks (like the ones at epcot).
You built the fiber optic concrete blocks? That is too cool. I knew I wanted that since the first time I saw it. Was it difficult to do?

No not difficult at all... hmm I should post some kind of tutorial on how to do it.

Time consuming is all it was ;)

I called GKI and another company and it seems that while GKI DOES supply Disney with Christmas lights they do not supply the lights we are interested in.

I was directed to "Action Lighting" 1-800-248-0076 who also supplies Disney with lights (and other theme parks and casinos). They have c7 globe lights that "twinkle" but do not fade.

Information I got from some of the people I talked to is that the lights on main street are C7 base globe lights on a standard C7 outdoor string but that the bulbs are 12 or 24 volt rated (rather than the 110/220 normal christmas lights).

So, I COULD get the same effect by building a fading controller and using C7 base globe lights... *OR* use a standard string, transformed down to 12 volts (my plan anyway) with light bulbs that themselves individually fade without a controller...

Action is supposedly looking into a supplier for the fading light bulbs (they have twinkling in a C7 base).

Well everyone, here's the little bit of information I know:

My mom has been wanting these lights for years. When I was at the Contemporary one day, I saw that a strand of the lights in the rows of trees out front was hanging down. I walked up to them and examined them; they looked exactly like the ones pictured above. I looked for any kind of name of manufacturer or whatever, and the only name I found on them said:

Christiana Industries

I did some searched online and have not been able to find too much. I'm not even sure if the ones in the trees at the Contemporary are the same as Epcot's and MK's, but they sure looked like it. Apparently the Christiana Industries website is under construction, but has been that way since August, when I made this "discovery."

Hope we can put our heads together and find these!
