My 13 yr old daughter eats only the things found on the traditional kids menu's like macaroni and cheese and chicken strips etc... Is Disney fussy about the actual age of people who want to purchase kids meals (usually noted as 10 and under)? I hate throwing away a half a plate of expensive food that she can't or won't eat.

My 14 and 10 year olds have often ordered off of the kids menus at Disney. Especially at places like California Grill where the food is a little too fancy for their tastes. We have never had a problem with this however, we do not use any dining plans so that might make a difference. Heck, there have been several times when I have ordered something from the kids menu just because I wasn't very hungry!!It has been our experience that Disney will go above and beyond to make the guests happy.

I'm sure it's no problem, but another way to assist the situation is to hit a buffet such as Crystal Palace on Main Street in MK which has an excellent supply of "simple" dishes like macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, etc., and is open to all guests.

My youngest (14) is also a fussy eater both in terms of variety offered and quantity on plate. We have yet to be told that she MUST order from the adult menu

On a related note... we have yet to have any problems with Disney food service when two adults want to split an adult meal. They are usually very accomodating, to the point that they bring us the food already split on two plates.

Hehe, this post reminds me of...well...me!

I'm 20 and at the Buffet's I still go for the Chicken Strips, Mac and Cheese and Pizza first! It's funny seeing me bend over standing next to an 8 year old getting my food! But Disney shouldn't have a problem with it, we're always willing to accomodate the picky eaters (such as myself!) :)

One of my friends who I have dined with before actually doesn't tend to eat alot, so she orders off the kids menu all the time. And she's in her 20s. There have never been any problems with it.

I have the opposite problem. My kids prefer adult fare mostly. The kids menu never appeals to them. They eat Sushi, Indian, Morrocan, Thai, you name it! My oldest (12) can eat an adult portion no problem, but my youngest (6) can't always. I am wondering if you can order a 1/2 portion of something. Near me where I live, we have Sushi and the like on the kids menu, but at Disney they expect kids to eat fried chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. So the opposite issue for me I guess.

My kids are picky eaters as well (16 & 10). They order from kid's menus too. We've made out the best at the buffets where they can take what they want from the "safe foods" and still give the "odd stuff" a try.

I eat like a mouse, and I'm 18. I have ordered off the kids menu all over WDW, and I've never had issues with this. Especially when I look for Mickey pancakes :slurp: it's not a WDW vacation without one!

Any way, If I can order from the kids menu at 18, there should be no worries about your 13-year-old ordering!

Time to introduce your daughter to the delights of other flavours that are in the world! :D

OK - I know, easier said than done.

Bottom line, if you wish to give money to Disney for something off the kid's menu they are not going to refuse it.

If a kid on the dining plan who is over ten orders from the kids menu will it be a problem?

Just remember that when you are using the new dining plan, and your child is 10 or over, the park ticket is priced as an adult so the dining plan is also priced as an adult ($35 per day)... (I am running into the same problem myself).

Im 18 but im quite little and get full very quickly, in counter service i mostly get kids portions as its not like a sit down where the servers see where the food is going, so i feel less guilty! In sit down restaurants i often have an appetizer as an entree, the portions as disney are more than enough! Servers have also offered to make entrees appetizer size, or have split one entree onto two plates for my mum and me. Disney has always gone out of its way to accomadate me, im not a picky eater at all, so i guess that helps.
