Tusker House?

So, my family is trying to decide on our dining choices for our disney trip in November. Today, I came across Tusker House's new menu/buffet and I thought it sounded really good! However, many people who reviewed it compared it to Boma and suprisingly, my family did NOT like Boma. Everyting we ate was either too sweet or too spicy. We are pretty adventurous eaters, so my family were suprised we didn't like anything at Boma's.

So, my question is, for those who have ate at Tusker House, how was it? Is it too much like Boma's menu, where we wouldn't enjoy it, or is it more subdued?

Thanks!

The cuisine is similar in flavor, but I still like the old menu better (before the switch over).

We were not sure about either, but decided to try and loved them. That's what I like about WDW...so much for everyone.

In my opinion Boma is MUCH better than Tusker House. I felt like the food at Tusker House was catering much more to picky eaters than the food at Boma. It was kind of dull and there is more to choose from at Boma. We went once and haven't been back, Boma is a much better choice for us. If you didn't like Boma I highly doubt you're going to like Tusker House. Have you looked at the menu for sanaa at the AKL villas? We're hearing nothing but great things about it! We have info, menus and reviews for Sanaa here.

Wow, Sanaa is beautiful inside! I don't think I've ever noticed it before because we are primarily going to restaurants on the dining plan.

I think I agree with you that Tusker House probably isn't a good choice for my family because we didn't love Boma. I think we have decided on Yak and Yeti instead!

Good call. Me, personally, I liked Tusker House a lot and I LOVE Boma. Tusker House is definitely not as "exotic" as Boma (and IMHO Boma isn't that exotic at all). But if you didn't like Boma, Tusker House is still a bit of a risk. Better off at Y&Y

Oh, and while I like Tusker House, I really miss what it used to be, which was, hands down, the finest counter service restaurant on property. Anyone who says otherwise is no son of mine.

Yeah, I didn't even know Tusker House switched to table service until last week! My family enjoyed the old menu a lot, so it was a disappointment to see it was changed.

Had to chime in and say i was also a huge fan of the 'original' Tusker House counter service back in the day. Awesome food, fantastic themed dining area outside in the back ( wow it was like another world there..)....it was a great 'secret' spot to escape from the crowds too.

I have yet to have been back since the change, as i always assumed ALL meals were 'Character Dining'. I recently discovered this is not the case...and booked myself and 4 friends dinner there this Septemeber. I have heard good things about the food, and i am hoping the atmosphere has not been messed with too much.

We shall see....i will have to come back here and post my pre-meal thoughts.

Unacceptable treatment at Tusker House

This happened yesterday, 23 Sept 2009; Co-worker sent from his Blackberry to me this morning.
"We had lunch at tusker. What do you think. After waiting our turn they brought us to our table. We overhear that out table is saved for somebody else. So 3 castmembers have to figure out were to put us. They talk right in front of us like we don't know what is going on. It only took a few minutes to work out. So it was not that bad. But it is not right. Lunch was not that good."
These cast members need some retraining. Definitely not worthy of their 'ears'.

I don't think thats unacceptable.

It's not as if it was some big embarrassing secret. OK, so they made a mistake, and went to seat them at a table that was already reserved.

Is not like they went to seat your friends, and then said "Oh we can't seat them there, these people smell, wait for a table in the back to open up"

According to your friends, it only took a few minutes to sort out. Sounds like a good seating team to me.

This is unacceptable. The day before they had a character breakfast reservation there and were seated 1 hour later than the reservation. Looks to me that there is a problem which needs resolution.
