Tusker House or Chef Mickeys?

We leave in 2 days (EEEKKK!!!) and I have dining reservations for both Tusker House (breakfast) and Chef Mickey's (dinner). We did Tusker house breakfast last time and really enjoyed it. The kids have always mentioned wanting to try Chef Mickey's and they had an opening for dinner so I reserved it. I'd really like to do only one or the other. Which would you do? I can't decide and the kids don't know we're going to Disney so I can't ask them!

We're staying Club Level at the Wilderness Lodge so i'm kind of leaning towards Chef Mickey's since we'll have stuff in the lounge available for breakfast... but I keep reading about how the food isnt' that great at CM.

I'd go for Chef Mickeys. The kids will LOVE it and it's a nice boat ride over from the Wilderness Lodge over to the Contemporary. Have a fabulous vacation at my favorite resort!

I ate at both TH and CM the last time but both were for breakfast. I really loved tuscker house much more than CM. tuskers theming/atmosphere and food was much better. but since you've never been to CM I would try CM just to do something different. The food wasn't bad just not as good as tuscker. I also was there for breakfast, I don't know how it is at dinner. I have to say you did get a little extra character time at CM though.

While I would take TH breakfast over any meal at CM for numerous reasons, I am also a firm believer in trying new things and formulating our own opinions. So, with that being said, if the kids want to try CM, go for it. If you are worried that you wont like the food, stop by the CL lounge before heading to your ADR for some of the evening offerings and head back after for some of the desserts if you are still hungry.

Been to both. Tusker House is a great breakfast. Chef Mickeys is an excellent way to see Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, and Minnie as well. If you are to only do one check out Chef Mickeys only since you had not been there before. I think the food and atmosphere is better at Tusker but Chef Mickeys did have pretty good Prime Rib and an ice cream sundae station.

If you are only going to hit one of them, and are having a tough time deciding, I would always lean to the one you haven’t tried! And one more thing: Stay away from Tusker at all times of the day except breakfast! Tusker is great for breakfast, but you will be disappointed if you have the same expectation for lunch or dinner!! Not saying it is bad, but it IS way better for breakfast than the rest of the day.

Daisy Duck is at Tusker and not CM, if that is a factor. If I was voting purely on the meal I would say Tusker all the way, it's our favorite breakfast buffet. I am not a fan of any of the character dinner buffets but if you have not tried CM it's a must. We just always hit it at breakfast time. Tough choice but it's always fun to check a new one off the list!

Have never done Tusker, but always wondered why it gets the lowest rating of any restaurant on property in the Unofficial Guide...sounds like the breakfast is good, but maybe not the other meals?

We've done CM twice and it's a great character meal. The food is not "great" but it's not terrible either, and you get the best character interaction there imo.

We did both last trip and hand down we would do Tusker House over Chef Mickey's. Tusker House had better atmosphere, different food from anywhere else we have eaten and if you book early enough you get to get into the park before it opens and get to the rides/shows first. Chef Mickey's was rushed and it felt like I was eating in an airport cafeteria.

Well I personally am not a fan of Chef Mickey's and I am a big fan of Tusker House so I would say go to Tusker House.

If you do not want to do a breakfast then see if you can still get a late lunch or a dinner reservation @ Tusker House instead.

We've done Tusker breakfast once and had a rather poor experience. I know experiences can vary, but it's moved it pretty far down on our list for this reason. We have done Chef Mickeys for breakfast and dinner, and while the food was significantly better at breakfast, the character interaction and service we had at CM dinner puts it ahead of Tusker in our book.

I'd say do Chef Mickey's especially if you've done Tusker House before! Also I think there are more characters at Chef Mickey's (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Goofy) as opposed to Tusker House (Mickey, Donald, Daisy, ??)
