Turtle Talk relocating?

I've read a few rumors scattered across some threads suggesting Turtle Talk may be relocating to one of the old "Living Seas" theaters, and that the current "Nemo and Friends" module (with Mr. Ray's Lagoon and the clownfish tanks) will be gutted to make way for the queue.

Does anyone have more details about this?

I haven't been to the new Nemo ride yet, but I'll be very impressed if they were able to cram the new ride into just ONE of the old theaters and the hydrolator area. I always assumed BOTH theaters were used for the new dark ride.

Also, I'd be surprised Disney would spend big money ripping out the current Turtle Talk infrastructure, not to mention the excessive cost of relocating the aquariums, filters, and exhibits from the "Nemo and Friends" module (I'm assuming that module and the current Turtle Talk would simply swap places? They will relocate the stingray lagoon and such, right?)

I can certainly see Disney's desire to increase Turtle Talk's capacity and get the queue out of the middle of the Sea Base.

But rather than swap locations, it seems the easier (and cheaper) solution would be to reconfigure the current Turtle Talk theater, maybe pushing out the back wall a few feet into the middle of the Sea Base, and adding tiered/stadium seating inside that wraps around the circular room. As for the queue, it just seems like a no-brainer to route it through the current "Bruce's Shark World" exhibit (or whatever its called), with the queue connecting right behind the diver lock-out chamber. Yes, I know "Bruce's" area is brand new. But it's also a bit pointless. Plus I think it would be much easier to relocate those "Shark" set pieces to somewhere else in the Sea Base than it would be to gut the "Nemo and Friends" module.

All I can say is Theatre 2 (west) from The Seas preshow is still intact. When the bypass corridor was added the theatre wasn`t damaged too much, and I believe it`s currently restored to operational capability again. The new ride uses space from Theatre 1 (east) and the hydrolators.

It wouldn`t take too much effort to create a direct entrance and exit between Seabase and Theatre 2. Aside from a backstage staircase there isn`t too much between the two. I`ve heard a rumour too, nothing more.

I can tell you that the Nemo and Friends Module that featured Mr Ray's Lagoon has been boarded up and none of the cast members would say why. Also the new que goes around the old theater one and does not utilize its space. So it could be probable that this could happen.

Yep.
Turtle Talk is moving to that old theatre. Nemo and Friends is moving into the current Turtle Talk space.

Should be finished around first quarter '07.

If they have two of the Turtle Talk then the lines would be smaller. They should think about that because they are going to get a lot of people for the new ride there.

They must be pretty confident that Laugh Floor is going to work with its larger audience size. Crush is a fantastic show, and it certainly doesn't have a high enough capacity for the crowd it attracts. Hopefully, the intimate theater is not one reason why it's a fantastic show.

Even more hopefully, "around first quarter '07" means "before the end of Feburary", for purely selfish reasons. ;)

Epcot has been very busy lately, losing any capacity anywhere will hurt the park. Losing Turtle Talk would very detrimental to its general image.

By closing the Nemo and Friends module, you're just losing some square footage that was reclaimed when they took down the walls in other areas - the Seabase area doesn't feel any more crowded then it did before, probably less.

However, it lets Turtle Talk keep operating and guests also enjoy the Seas with Nemo and Friends. The new Turtle Talk will probably open at the same time or within days of the old one closing, then the old module will get a refurb for a short period.

Would you really want to not be able to ride Nemo and Friends or see Turtle Talk for months while they worked on the two? It would extend the time period for both projects if they closed them completely.

I think the current Nemo and Friends module will somehow become part of the queue for the new Turtle Talk location, with the hallway that runs between N&F and the theatre being the main queue.

Do you really think they would do that when they would have to add not only the technology for an additional theater, but more staffing (especially performer staffing) as well? It's much cheaper and more efficient if they relocate to an area with a larger capacity.

Since I won't be in Disney anytime soon a complete closure of the pavillion wouldn't bother me :p

It just seems like roadwork....a constant state of construction. So far most of the people who have been on the ride have commented about the unload area. Why not close the pavillion, do things right, and have a big re-opening? It just seems to me like this was a quick way to get the new ride open...then fix themeing problems later. On our last trip the line for Turtle Talk was always so long that we just didn't want to wait. I can only imagine that it will go up with all the traffic at The Seas for the new ride.

Ok, let me get this straight. Turtle Talk is moving to theatre 2 (West), Nemo and Friends is moving to the current Turtle Talk space, and the current Nemo and Friends space will become queue for the new TT. Yes?

No but it would be a good idea. But if they move it to the new one, it is adding 80 to 100 seats.
