Trip Report Tu in ‘25

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Tu in ‘25

These lyrics came to mind when I thought about my trip reporting. (I also thought, Here we go AGAIN but the above sounds much more poignant.) It’s now that time of year when my Disney trips are frequent. And this Disney Senior loves sharing her visits with y’all because your engagement makes it fun!

Yes, there will be stuff that’s the same. Yes, there will be surprises (too soon for the reveals). And yes, there will be sun rises!

Spring break countdown is at 4 days.

Since this intro needs a picture, here are Tu.

Em had been texting me her progress at Web Slingers. While the LL was in use (😉) it was fairly long and I had some time to kill. I decided to browse the nearby gift store.

I liked the print and the sign. I bought neither. 🤣

IMG_8224.jpeg

Seems like yesterday when Em started her pin collection. Can’t believe it’s been 25 years!

IMG_8222.jpeg

The cartoonist here must have been on a break.

IMG_8223.jpeg

I stepped outside and noticed that Mickey’s Philharmagic was right across the street. I texted Em to meet me there since the show would be starting soon and we had time to see it before the window closed on our Mermaid LL.

IMG_8221.jpeg

I took pictures of the same posters found inside the MK version of Philharmagic.

Disney’s description of Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure - “Embark on an action-packed adventure alongside the amazing Spider-Man! When Peter Parker’s helpful but otherwise buggy Spider-Bots get stuck in replication mode and escape from a WEB Workshop, Spider-Man must stop the rampaging robots before the wreak total techno-havoc across Avengers Campus. Your task is to throw webs to trap them and save the Campus from complete chaos!”

Em’s description? “It was just okay.” Of course the woman beside her frantically flailing her arms - and continually hitting Em in the process - likely contributed to Em’s less than stellar review!

Here are her pictures.

Em had rushed to meet me at Philharmagic and she arrived in the nick of time. “Last call!” the CM shouted as we made our way down a familiar-feeling hallway and into the theater.

IMG_8238.jpeg

The theater was oddly familiar as well.

Y’all, we were sitting in the (former) Muppet-Vision 3D theater!! What a déjà vu sensation, given that we’d recently had our final goodbye to MV3D in DHS!

Looking back, I’m not sure what was funnier - the fact that Em raced to meet me for the next show when the theater turned out to be empty; or the fact that I didn’t remember ever seeing Muppets in DCA (but my 2005 journal says otherwise!)

IMG_8243.jpeg

Disney did a decent job of retrofitting Philharmagic into the space, getting creative for the wrap-around screen parts from the Lion King to Aladdin segments. (No spraying water, however.)

Uh-oh! The Swedish Chef was replaced by Donald Duck.

😮🙄
What is wrong with people?

I forgot to mention that Fantasmic! started at 9 pm, the same time as Paint The Night. Em and I decided the reason is for crowd control purposes. With fireworks at 9:35 pm, guests can see them while remaining in their F! location or remaining in their PTN location. It is then possible to watch all three shows in the same night by doing F! > fireworks > 11 pm PTN.

Due to our tour, we were locked into the 9 pm PTN. But we didn’t mind. In 2013 we paid for a F! dessert party with priority seating.

Here’s how that went….

All the while Woody is texting us weather updates for SoCal from home, a three hour time distance away!

I’ve got news for anyone who claims 🎶It Never Rains in Southern California…”. IT DOES!!!
Not so fun fact- when it does rain here, people lose their minds; forget how to drive, and (compared to those of us from most other places in the country) act like it's acid rain...as in people take sick days... 😆

Replace the word rain with snow and you’ve described exactly what happens here in GA.

Some people take Web Slingers WAY too seriously, and have no remorse about hitting those around them in the process...ask me how I know😡. Tell Em I'm right there with her.

I agree with Em’s assessment of web slingers. It’s just ok. Clearly it’s designed to be the “B” attraction in that land. It also is exhausting for your arms!
Two additional reasons I am glad I chose not to ride!

As we made our way to Little Mermaid we were entertained by a jazz band with a very talented singer. Live entertainment has been greatly missed by us in the post-pandemic years and it’s nice to see more of it coming back!

IMG_8250.jpeg

Em pointed out the lack of a disco ball during our voyage Unda the Sea.

IMG_8255.jpeg

@Tony the Tigger will be woefully disappointed if he ever visits! 🪩🕺

But he’ll be able to wave!

IMG_8256.jpeg

Tummies rumbling, we went in search of lunch. My favorite food of the trip was from a food truck in Avengers Campus.

IMG_8258.jpeg

Shawarma is not readily available for us locally so I partake of it whenever I can. We both had chicken and got to assemble the wraps to our liking. They were yummy and filling!

IMG_8259.jpeg

The disposable paper tray from our meal - something we don’t see in GA.

Em had a serious hankering for soft serve. There is just one location that offers soft serve in the parks. Thankfully it was at DCA and we weren’t that far from it!

IMG_8262.jpeg

Duh!! Of course one of the cozy cones would offer ice cream cones!

IMG_8263.jpeg

Em chose to have her soft serve in a cup.

She was happy which is all that mattered.

We got to experience a real treat as we were enjoying our treats. Our table was close to the meet-and-greet area for Mater. It was such fun listening to Mater interact with guests, especially the littles!

IMG_8266.jpeg

He would call guests over with, “Roll up and park it!”

Different Mater comments when Photopass pictures were being taken:

“Come in close for a picture!”
“Get my good side - if you can find it!”
“Show your shiny grill!” (In other words, smile!)

When the meet-and-greet session was over, we watched Mater leave with his handler. He never stopped talking! 🤣

Lightning McQueen would get his turn next. Em and I did not stick around to watch his session.

Em and I had booked separate attractions for LL#2. She really wanted to try Web Slingers and I was nervous it would trigger my motion sensitivity. We were able to book similar LL time slots so she went off to ride Web Slingers….

The Lightning Lane entrance was roped off, but the standby queue was open. I finally tracked down a CM and asked why I could not enter the Lightning Lane.

He replied, “Lightning Lane is closed since the standby line is short.”

Sure, I’ll just stand out here in the heat! I thought to myself because the standby line was out the door. As I waited, I modified my (invalid) Monsters LL to Little Mermaid. I texted Em to book Mermaid after she tapped in at Web Slingers and we'd reconnect later.

I waited about 10 minutes for Monsters, so while “short” it wasn’t exactly a walk-on, which it would have been for me had I been “allowed” to use my LL! :banghead:

I enjoyed my time in Monstropolis and was given a fond send-off by the one and only Roz.

“Old lady in the front row - I don’t like your glasses!”

Nothing like the pot calling the kettle black! 🤣
What is the point of having a lightning lane if you don't keep it open? I've had Fastpasses where the standby line was just as short or shorter so we just went through standby and saved the fastpass just in case. It's great that the line is "Short" but what one person considers short and what another considers short can be vastly different.

I am with Em!! Ice cream belongs in a cup or a bowl, not in a sugar cone or waffle cone or kitchen sink😇
