TTA - Old Spiel or New Spiel?

Disregarding the nostalgia factor for a moment, if you compare the old spiel on the TTA to the new, current one.......I'd have to say the new one is terrible. The old one was much better. Anyone else with me?

It doesn't bother me. I just ride it to see if Space Mountain is down so I could see it with the lights on. :).

The thing I did have problem with the old spiel was it called the speedway a highway. But I mean the new spiel says carousel of progress has 4 families when it's ony 1. S

So they both had their flaws.

If you disregard the nostalgia factor, then what merits are we judging the two different narrations on? The way your question is posed it sounds as if we're supposed to set aside the nostalgia factor for an even older narration in order to declare your nostalgic favorite the "winner."

Setting aside nostalgia equally, I think the new narration is superior to the previous version.

First, it is more cohesive, and it is also more complete. The older narration had been hacked apart and mostly switched off to the point that there was hardly anything left of an actual narration. And no, I don't consider NOW APPROACHING SPACE MOUNTAIN to be the cornerstone of an integral, theme-sustaining piece of narration. ;)

Now, the narration actually describes all of the places you visit in Tomorrowland, something the 1995 version NEVER did, even when it was new.

With the destruction of Tomorrowland 94 as we know it, the new narration is rendered appropriate. Though I loved the concept of Tomorrowland as an intergalactic city, those days are long gone now.

My favorite one is the Jiminey Cricket one of old Tomorrowland. I loved how it talked about how Peoplemover worked, the electromagnets and stuff. It was just like a tour.

I did like the one that came next as it was themed to the Retro-Future tomorrowland.

Then new one is just super corny and boring. The over excitement of the narrator really annoys me.

Oh well. I ride it for the views and the atmosphere. It's always been a favourite of mine.

OLD! I agree, the new one is too Disney Channel for me. The old one actually felt like you are in Tomorrowland while the new one sounds like some sort of advertisement for the other attractions or something.

Old...for some reason the new one sounded like a bunch of jibberish.
There are also major factual errors in the new narration For example There are not 4 families who welcome you into their homes. It is 1 family as seen through each decade talking about how things have changed for the better.

When we rode it the first time in Sept it was really odd and seemed out of place so every time I went on after I did not pay attention to it. Actually I lost in halfway through the first time.

So you're saying the more "factual" interpretation of the Carousel of Progress is that we have been watching the exact same family members living for over one hundred years without them aging a day?

It was Walt's idea not mine.

Ignoring all nostalgia for the previous narration... the new one is completely horrible. I'm not too upset that they changed it. I AM upset that its replacement was the most uninspired, half-assed thing possible.

Totally agree!

The new spiel lost some of the 'whimsy' the old spiel had; if you never knew the old, the new one wouldn't bother you. IMO

Originally it was roughly a 60-year period, and they didn't age back then, either... The only family member that changed each time was the dog.

Currently, it's closer to a 90-year period, as it hasn't been updated since 1994.
