TSI Paintbrush hunt officially done

The concept, and it certainly was no hoax, involved using both the northern end of TSI and he plot(s) north of the river.
The plots are north of the Mansion, and across the tracks to the north of TSI.
The riverboat would be docked, and a bridge built from the Frontierland side of the river.

Art for this exists, but I don't have it in my possession. Working to resolve that...

It's all rather moot, anyhow. Not gonna happen.

It's a long way to get guests to walk, especially through TSI. Doesn't may any sense to use TSI as a walkway! Small kids and their parents would have to contend with guests just walking through, not necessarily safe. Pragmatically, the most likely way to put in an attraction here would be to re-route the HM queue slightly (easier now that the queue is expanded a tad), and built a walkway in front of HM to the queue area for a new E-ticket, the ride would utilize a show-building north of the HM showbuilding, or narrow and expanding up into this area, as it was explained to me. This expansion would cost a lot less, and keep TSI and the river belle and their capacity, a win-win.

There are certain areas in MK which are mapped out for expansion . . . TSI and shutting down the river belle was never seriously considered as one of them.

I say hoax.

Or use and up an over for the traffic going to the new area. DL does this well with the foot traffic to and from Adventureland over the que for POTC.

Odd that they would stop this. It costs virtually nothing and adds a challenge to TSI. Even if people stole the brushes to take home they could buy bulk paintbrushes for less than $1. This was basically a low tech version of Agent P in Epcot. Gave kids and adults too something to do. Any chance they would replace this with something more high tech and that is why they are stopping it?

Sir (or Madam...), I do not deal in hoaxes.
It was a real proposal. Never close to greenlit, same as any other recent Frontierland concept.
Art exists, and was visible at WDI Florida as recently as last year.

There is only one way to settle this...

I love how anyone who has a friend down in Orlando who works for Disney (doing whatever) is suddenly an expert. Not to mention the unauthorized backstage tours that are apparently happening... Interesting...

LOL did someone finally get rid of troll? I know...stop feeding it....but I for one am definately NOT a man old or otherwise and never been called creepy to spend time with my children on a treasure hunt together. :p

Can't bring back Toad, 20,000, skyway, skyway station, swanboats, etc.....but paintbrushes?!?! Easy fix even if we have to bring 'em ourselves....Good way to raise awareness....less intrustive than a sit-in.....:)

It was, but you still saw they posted something, and you would see their quoted messages. Now, they are simply non-existent, like they should be

Exactly... This was my son finding one. You'd give it to the CM on the raft, and they'd give you a FP (we got one for each member of the family).

During a visit in September of '09, my daughter and I made sure we were on the first raft of the morning to TSI. There was a highly competitive feel on the raft as it was obvious that everyone on board was out to find a paintbrush. Once off the raft, everyone scattered. We searched and searched, and every once in a while, you'd here another voice from another part of the island yell "I found one!" We heard that they hid 5 paintbrushes (could be more or less, but that's what we heard), and after hearing a forth yell, we never thought we'd find one. After searching for a good half hour (did I forget to mention it was about 90 degrees and VERY humid), we decided to call off the search. As we headed back in the direction of the dock, we passed through the secondary raft load position, up river from the main dock, and there, above our heads, sticking out from the beams, was the treasure we'd been looking for. It was as if it poked its bristles out, just for us to find. Boarding the raft, we were told to see the CM on the mainland, where we were rewarded with FPs for Splash and Big Thunder. We didn't even care that we had won something....it was just the fun of finding the brush that made that Sunday morning, one of the most memorable in all our visits to the MK. Disney markets its theme parks as a place where memories are made.....you'd think that they'd realize that the hunt on TSI creates some of the best memories that anyone could have.

I love this story !:)

exactly what do you find creepy about everyone liking the scavenger hunt and thinking of ideas to continue it even under the radar????
It's really not anyone's place to do anything "under the radar" on Disney's private property, especially when it involves children who aren't yours. Last thing Disney needs is a child walking off with some stranger who offers them a "prize."

I think you're are missing the point. First of all they are only suggesting hiding the paintbrushes...not actually having any interaction with other peoples children. The kids would still be taking the paintbrushes to the castmembers, who would be :confused:. The magic would still be there for the kids...just no prizes would be involved.

How is this any different then giving some random stranger a fastpass that you are not going to use?

yes I was only thinking about the hiding of the paintbrushes for the sake of the "find" not really extending out to the "reward" part... I guess I am at that stage in life that the hunt and the find is often what I like the best and the reward is more an internal thing rather than what another bestows on me..I realize kids are very "reward" oriented though...

The very fun of the Underground Paintbrush liberation Front is that found brushes keep being brought back to Disney, despite them not wanting it. They'll keep wondering where they all came from.

Ultimately, Disney may decide it is easier and cheaper to just give people a wee little fastpass than having CM's be occupied explaining to them all the time why Disney is too stingy to do so.

Urban guerilla at its finest!
