I'm going to defend the other side....mainly TSA, I think they do the best they can at airports with the given budget...maybe we should ask why we can't fund the most important thing in our country....security?
I have yet to see the TSA stop a real terrorism attempt.
Infact, I read that they.. despite the insanely exaggerated scanners and patdowns.. people were still able to walk with knives and weapons.

reminds me fo this from 2010:

This is the same crew which is spending a billion dollars on converting a insane asylum to their new HQ, Strangely appropriate given their level of performance. DHS budget is virtually unlimited so they waste much of it on boondoggles.

Will you do the famous "I keel you" line at the guards, face and all? :hilarious:

You better believe it!!

Seriously, I have never had much issue with Disney security, they have always been polite (a few exceptions), well mannered, and conversational. Even the plain clothes ones that I have noticed and nodded to (occupational thing, we can sense, see and smell our own as the saying goes).

Some redneck biker dude was very loudly cussing up a storm at the turnstiles last trip, he was surrounded in 30 seconds or less plain ol CMs, Disney security, plain clothes and Sheriffs deputies. So Disney security is fast, but they are professional.

TSA,. A bunch of blithering idiots for the most part that could not find rain in a hurricane. But again, many are polite and professional and conversational when you talk to them like they are people too. Do I rely on them to save my life? Nope. I am way better equipped and motivated to take on a security issue on a plane than your normal traveler.

So lets look at the signs. Practically all of the behavioral signs are moot in Florida. Sweating, yawning, eyes darting everywhere, fatigue, even shaving a beard, then the laughing. Uh guys.......Florida is hot, so the sweating and shaving is not unusual. Eyes darting everywhere, hello the place has way too much to see and can be sensory overload even for adults not to mention kids. Fatigue and yawning, you are walking miles upon miles everyday, so duh! Then laughing, hello, its called having fun.

I am not saying don't pay attention to somebody wearing a vest full of C4, or people carrying automatic rifles on them. They should be screened first before being let into the park as well:cool::p. Security CMs have sharp eyes, and I am happy with that. I don't feel the need for personally high protective measures while in the parks or hotels. Off property, is another story though.

So, yes I don't mind security at Disney, I applaude it. But the bag checks are a worthless pain in the rump. Everything else from sharp eyed security CMs, plain clothes security and police, uniformed police, K9 police and security and even the gate check at resorts I appreciate, and realize as a sane person, is necessary, not only for safety of guests but legally and PR wise for Disney.

I'll tell a story I have never told before because I was a little ashamed. Two years ago I boarded a bus leaving the Maic Kingdom to head back to my resort, I think All star Music. Anyway, it's like 9:30 at night I'm tired, and ready to get back to the room. There were 2 heavy, not handicapped people in scoters,so they are loaded on, it took about 10 min. So, they start to let us on, everyone that can fit is on the bus, then another person gets to the stop on a scoter, the bus driver opens the handicap doors, makes people stand up who were sitting, to lower the seats so this person can get on. So now I'm shaking my head, with a very mad look on my face. So we get ready to go. Then what Happens? Another person on a scoter, and she opens the doors, I yelled what the h***, as many people agreed with me. All the sudden the bus lights come on, and they say there is a security issue. So now I'm real mad. About 30 seconds later, there are 3 Disney people standing there, and they say sir, step off the bus. I looked around, as many people were wondering what I did wrong. I took out my video camera and starting recording, because I didn't know what I had done. They said wait right here security is on the way, I said that's fine with me. Within another 30 seconds there was a security vehicle with light flashing and all. The man approaches me and says what's the problem? I nicely try to explain that the bus driver is letting all these people on the bus, and making other people move after there are already 3 scoters on the bus. He smiled looked at the CMs and said everything is fine, I'll take him. He kindly asked what resort I was staying at, and said hop in ill take you there. He was a awesome guy, from Jersey actually, and the first thing he said when we got in the car was, I know you weren't causing any type of problem, but we have to check everything. So that just goes to show you, they are watching, and will be there in the blink of an eye. I personally applaud the CMs for being watchful of all the guests:)

So now we know a way to bypass the busses and get a private ride back to our resort, thanks! ;)

I've found our TSA agents to be both personable and professional. Maybe too personable....on our news last night, two were let go, under allegations of groping the passengers.:eek:

Saying you have yet to see TSA stop a terrorist attack is like saying your local cops haven't stopped a burglary at your house yet (meanwhile it hasn't been broken into yet... it's the very nature of their existence that helps prevent it)

What good would it do this world if TSA stopped a terrorist from boarding a plane and promoting it world wide that they caught it by doing x,y,z. All you're doing is telling potential terrorists what doesn't work.

I work in Boston, and it absolutely sickens me to my core the people who complain about TSA and "my privacy my privacy!!" When you're doing something you are privileged to do. It is not your right to fly or to go to disney, it is tour privilege. If you honestly read that and think you'll get arrested and detained for whistling along to it's a small world than that's extremely sad you're that paranoid and narcissistic.

How on earth can anyone rather have lessened security given the things we see happening in the world today, and what we've gone through. So you'll walk through a turnstile and be profiled by someone who is ACTUALLY PROTECTING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY BY DOING THAT. Oh heavens no.

Let's just get rid of all security so people can drop bombs, or have public shootings because some people can't handle being profiled....

So extremely sad.

Hopefully they weren't trained by the same idiots that took our daughter away without consent or notification and then gave her the swab test without her consent.

I agree that the TSA are mostly a bunch of idiots but I don't think they have to get consent for anything. I believe that once you enter the security area for screening, you are consenting to everything that they want to do.

actually, many reports show that they are completely ineffective.
they have let so many weapons in quite a few studies.

TSA is ineffective, NSA isn't.
I wonder how many actually been caught by actual intelligence (many I'm pretty sure ).

You completely missed the point...

I guess I prefer to judge their level of effectiveness on real life (number of terrorist attacks that have happened post 9/11) and not on things I read on the Internet.

Obviously they could be more effective but it's ignorant to ignore the difficulty of their job while trying their best to not actually cause real inconvenience to everyone.

Why do people put stickers on their house they have alarm systems when they don't have one? Why do stores put up fake security cameras? You simply cannot expect them to see everything, their existence and them releasing these statements about everything they're looking for prevents would be terrorists.

That's untrue, even by their own policies stated on the official government website. I already have the MCO-TSA lead admitting that they made an "error in judgement", now I'm just following the steps to seek legal action.

  • TSA will not ask travelers to do anything that will separate them from their child.

You also have the right to refuse a scan, which leads to a pat down. You even have the right to refuse that. Of course then you won't fly but I'm not willing to drop my rights just because the government wants to fool you into thinking it's for your own good.

Yeah, because before the TSA it was just one terrorist tragedy after another....oh wait.....

I was headed into the MK last month with my tactical diaper bag (feel free to look up 5.11 MOAB Rush 10) and made it through with zero issues. After I leave the table the security host asked if I am active duty military or law enforcement (the hair gives it away). I responded in the affirmative and he asked me what was in my cargo pocket. I replied my wallet. He said something in Disney Security code of you have a signal ## and what is in your other pocket? My credentials. I need to see those. Then he asked me if I was carrying. Look dude, if you can spot my wallet and creds, you better be able to spot my sidearm. If you cant see it, no one else can either. Have a nice day. However, I told him I wasn't carrying today. He proceeded to ask me where it was (home in a lockbox). At that point I told him I am continuing on, there is only so much he can ask in the name of security.
