TSA issues ? UPDATE 1/25 NY now shutting down

I am leaving next week and just wondering if people have seen significantly extended times for TSA in airports? I am leaving from Logan and flying to MCO.

So just saw the FAA is not halting many incoming flights to some major airports in NY and NJ. If we get stuck do we have any options with disney?

Depends on where you live! But I don't like flying, if ya hit the ground at 500mph from 30,000...that's gonna leave a scratch! At least with ground transportation, you will have a better chance of surviving if something happens!

ATC is a highly stressful job. And now add to that worries about paying the mortgage, heating bill, feeding the family. Many are driving for Uber/Lyft and waiting tables before/after shift to earn money. Frankly, I'd rather a traffic controller be out sick than sit at their station stressed, tired and depressed.

From the reports today...the controllers are failing their medical checks and aren’t being allowed to work. That’s the stress of weeks of call Outs combined with moonlighting.

To answer the initial question: as long as this goes on...the worse it will get. We’re at the beginning of the tunnel.

Maybe Wilbur Ross should pay them? He can afford it - $700 mil

Things just got a lot worse... Problems are now mounting up and down the east coast.

Flights are delayed across the East Coast
Flights delayed at major Northeast US airports...

The real problem will be if the centers used to monitor flights across the country see slowdowns.

What will be interesting is when TSA agents just start quitting.

While being a TSA agent does have a good benefit package, the pay is one of the lowest when it comes to government jobs. By comparison, a TSA agent makes a little over $19/hour. Working for the USPS will net you an average pay a little over $24 with a similar benefit package.

Government shut-down is over (at least for the next three weeks if your trip is in that window). Trump caved after his polls nosedived because of what happened at LGA in NY today.

Just make sure to complete your travel by February 15th.

LOL - My family flies out on 2/18. I guess we'll see what happens. At least I'll be able to count on another paycheck or two, which will help restore - at least temporarily - my peace of mind!
