Troubling Party Season Update

Okay I guess I'm confused.

I thought you were saying MK was never open past 9 pm where in actuality it was for many years.
We went in 2014 too and again, May and other months - MK was open until 11 most nights. Even midnight and 1 am.

The 9 pm close is a more recent thing.
Late MK during party season isn't what I'm considering normal hours. It was artificially late hours because the short nights compressed demand into the other nights.

Again, it wasn't just party season. As I said in my posts you are quoting.
2014 - 2018 ish, even non-party months, MK was open to 10pm and later.
No crap, that's because they ran the parties during slow season. You quoted back to me Spring Break hours. Of course those were later. Without parties, October would have looked a lot like January/February, when 8 or 9 was the norm. Weekends and holidays were sometimes later.

I'm not sure why you are arguing this, it's true. I'm not trying to be deceitful or to annoy you.

Feb 2013/2014 - MK open until 10 or later most nights
March 2013/2014 - MK open until 10 or later most nights

Jan and September were the months where MK closed at 8 or 9 most nights. Feb (most of) through August, October up to January - closing at 10 or later was the norm for many years. I'd say 9 or 10 out of 12 months a year would be considered the norm.

One of the biggest complaints people have had as of late is the fact that MK closes so darn early now. I think they started cutting back 2018 or 2019.

I can’t remember- do they discount the ticket for the regular day guest on these party nights to help compensate for an early park closing?
Was that supposed to be some kind of a joke? No way they'd ever consider doing that. They post the park hours and you go on that day knowing they close early.

I actually don't mind this. The parties weren't fun the last time few times that I was there. The After Hours events are expensive, but at the same time, IF they keep the capacity limited, you can have a decent fun late night at the parks.

If they bump the specialty fireworks to the regular park hours, 8:30pm currently, that will allow more time after to enjoy the rides - something that wasn't the case at the last few years of the parties. Everything felt so rushed back then.

I would really love it if they bumped the stage shows up to be during the regular hours. They already were like that during Christmas week anyway, so it wouldn't really be that challenging.

All four parks could really use some more seasonal entertainment, especially outside of the holiday season. Not going to hold my breath, but such moves would make me happy.

I think this can be a good change. I thought the Boo Bash was a little underwhelming (and the cavalcades coming every 15 mins made it hard to go do other things so I felt like I was wasting time waiting) but I’m glad the holiday offering looks a lot more attractive.

I’m sure many will say, “saw this coming,” but I’m told Chapek has paid some attention to after hours parties and decided that, going forward, he wants to give guests what they’ve been asking for. We’ve been complaining that parties are too crowded for years. Apparently, After Hours events will be the plan going forward, although they can keep some entertainment (e.g. parade and fireworks, but not stage show; or some other mix—closer to this year’s Christmas event than Boo Bash).

Crowd levels will be very limited and cost will be in the $150-200 range moving forward.

Disneyland gets to do this, too. Disneylanders will love that...

Grain of salt, of course.

All the defenders of 'this isn't a party, it's a DAH event...' can keep holding onto that meaningless distinction. This was the replacement product for the parties, and it's the new wave. UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND

Disney easily side-steps the complaints about the parties impacting the park hours when they simply make the park hours so short all the time... and wallah! See we aren't closing the park early!

Meanwhile, selling out upsell events multiple times a week shows there is demand for the parks at that time of year. It's rediculous that Disneyland can be open till 11pm, yet the vacation capital of the world closes at 9 or 10pm in freaking July and August. It's downright pathetic.

So what's the excuse for closing the MK at 9 and 10pm in July and August? While they turn around and sell thousands of upsell tickets where people are willing and interested in being out for hours beyond those close times?

10pm closes in the peak of summer is just totally indefensible. 9pm the second week of August? Just downright bold... yet people are happy the AH events 'aren't impacting hours'.. lol... Disney is converting normal operations to paid limited access right in front of everyone's eyes..

Staffing remains an issue, note the hiring fair WDW is running this coming week with a thousand dollar signing bonus.

You believe what you want. Companies don't offer sign-on bonuses for employees they don't need unless it's a socialist workers paradise.
Are they really offering sign on bonuses for college program kiddos? If they are, they are getting it right back from them on that new weekly “rent” they charge them at Flamingo Crossing….
