Tron Attraction?

Tron or not, there is a ton of wasted space currently "in" Tomorrowland:

I can't believe that such a valuable piece of land is used as a parking lot, of all things. :p

Easiest way to go about it would be to replace Stitch Encounter and figure out a way to work the film into the existing show area.

:ROFLOL: Best idea yet. I agree, that is some pretty valuable real estate to be used as parking.

What would a Tron ride do? How would it be different, say, from Rockn' Roller Coaster? Just a different ride vehicle?

:)

How's this for an idea: Have Journey to the Center of the Earth-styled vehicles...

... But rethemed to resemble large Light cycles:

Maybe even pair them up, Space Mountain or Dueling Dragons-style, and you can pick which side/color you will ride while in line. Then have each vehicle zooming around a blacklit room, with some screen effects, and lots of thrills coming from the vehicles making sharp turns or nearly colliding into each other. It could make for a very cool and unique experience, IMO.

In other news, Disney insider Al Lutz on MiceAge had this to say today about the possibility of a Tron ride in Disneyland:

MiceAge columnist Al Lutz chimes in with another answer for his readers.

Q: What's with all the rumors of a TRON ride coming to Disneyland soon? - Tom

A: Soon? Not at this time. Later? Maybe.

I was just going to say that. Yes stitch is popular with many ages but I see so many disappointed people getting off that ride. And if you do a tron ride(lets say with the lightcycles) people don't need to "love" the movie. So many rides are based off of movies people forget about for example? Splash Mountain I know the song zip-a-dee-do-da but have I ever seen song of the south? nope and I don't think most of the guest riding that ride have either. I would like for them to create a tron ride. There is room as mentioned before, where the restrooms are, stitch's great escape, etc.

WOW i never thought of it like that. Amazing point!!!!!!!!!
To make it cool use multiple tracks say 3-4 and smaller cars say 2-4 per car and do what was stated earlier, have them zoom around the room and nearly crash. Multiple tracks add reride value, make them different colors and then people could pick their favorites. Maybe use tech from winnie the pooh ride in tokyo, trackless, add an extra element. You wouldnt exactly know where ur gonna go but the ride would have it predetermined.

i had another idea that wouldn't take up nearly as much room, but make a simulator like the aladdin magic carpet thing in disney quest but make it a tron lightcycle match

People are always looking at places where new attractions would fit. But considering WDW has been around for quite some time, don't you believe that the Imagineers would have thought of the best way to utilize that space already? Yes, they may choose to put some new attraction into that area at some point. But the better odds are that it's been recognized that the area provides not just access and parking for CMs, but also as a stop for the Backstage Magic Tour and the most convenient access for EMT and police vehicles for Main Street, TL and several other spots. It may never be used for another attraction........

To be honest, I would prefer this. Just make a Tron themed section of DisneyQuest themed to Flynn's arcade...:veryconfu

That may be the case, but there are plenty of other "land-locked" areas of MK that set precedent and have service access in more creative ways, and there are about 100,000 better things to do with that space than to serve as a parking lot. There is a reason the utilidors exist.

I'm sure it is convenient, but there is always a better use of the space if they are willing to put forth the effort/thought/$texas
