I don't think a trolley is necessary for such a short distance. It is maybe a few hundred feet.
If the children are tired, the parents can use a stroller.
There is no trolley from park to park at WDW.

This post got me curious about the exact distance, so I measured it on Google Earth.

Looks like about 350 feet between the two ticket booths...shorter than a football field! (including the end zones)

I know there is (was?) talk of installing people movers connecting the 3rd gate site/parking lot to the Esplanade or convention center or something along those lines. Seems a bit more efficient than trams, at least the way I see it.

If the 3rd gate is ever built, it would be GREAT to see the PeopleMover finally meet its potential as a legitimate mode of transportation in a Disney setting. I always thought it was a shame that idea never took off (outside of the Houston airport).

That's the ARC system, that is being developed by the city of Anaheim. It's not a Disney project, but according to Al Lutz it would be allowed to use the new parking structure on Disney Way to plug riders into the Resort itself. They'd build a station inside the parking structure, for riders to transfer to moving sidewalks that carry them over Harbor Blvd. and towards Disneyland's entrance.

The official website for the system... http://aconnext.com/arc/

Oficially they haven't chosen an exact technology, but in all the planning meetings and public materials they are really hyped up on an elevated monorail or train serving as the ARC vehicles.

As for the distance between DCA and Disneyland, it's currently about 300 feet. Although with the new Buena Vista Street entrance opening in 2012, they will push the DCA entrance closer to Disneyland by about 50 feet to buy more real estate to use for the entrance "town square" scene for the Buena Vista Street entrance complex. It will officially make it an even shorter walk between the two parks, by pushing the DCA entry turnstiles north about 50 feet.

Yup, that's what I was referring to. The ARC sounds like a great idea, I hope it takes a lot of pressure off of the Southern Californian freeways.

I'm also pretty excited for Buena Vista Street, butI hope they don't pull off what they did at WDW's Main Street and just make it chock full of merchandise.
