Trip Report

Ok so I have never done a trip report so please forgive me if I did not post this correctly.

Just some info for you guys.......

*Chef Mickey's is under construction I had never been there so I am not sure if part of it is closed or if they are expanding it.

*Crowd levels were not too bad at all except for AK the day they had EMH. It's not worth EMH in the evening at AK since most things are closed like the safari ride after 5pm. Anything having to do with live animals in the show/ride close down regardless of EMH or not.

*EMH in the am at MK were wonderful. Low wait times for rides.

*WE WON DREAM FAST PASSES IN EPCOT ONE DAY*:sohappy:For those of you who have not had dream fast passes I was not aware of this until we won them but, you only get one entrance for certain rides on that day only in the park you won in. I thought it was for all rides for as many times as you wanted for that day:brick:. I did see people in MK with the fast pases and theirs had an extra ride noted on theirs. Epcot had only 6 rides.

*Eat at Akershus princess story book dinner and you get free pictures with a princess......well at least that day everyone did. The food was good but, my MIL got triple charged for her tip on her meal (twice on her room charge and she had paid cash for the tip as well)

*Ohana's had a really long wait even with ADR's. We had ADR's for 9:10pm and did not get seated until almost 10 pm. They booked 3 other parties of more than 10 people for the same time as us. Try to get there early to see if you can get seated early.

*Disappointed with POP century. We stayed last year and the property was clean and kept up really well including the busy food court. This year, the food court was always messy, dirty, and they were ALWAYS out of the frozen coke. They property in general was ok, but still saw lots of paper on the grounds and didn't seem like that many people were working.

*Lines for counter service meals went pretty quick considering it was the first week of free dining. DDP gives so much food we could not eat it all. Ended up getting suckers at 11:30 pm the night before we left to fulfill our snack credits.

*Be sure to check your room accounts especially if you have charging privelages on your room. All of the people in are party (3 rooms, 10 people) got stuff charged to our room that were not authorized from the dining plan. Save all your dining reciepts as we did not and almost had to pay out of pocket for a meal that was charged to our room when it was supposed to be the DDP.

*Heat was unbearable.......bring misting fans!!!!! HOT, HUMID, HORRIBLE!!!! :fork:

*So glad we rented a car!!! Won't do it any other way again!!! So convientent.

*Eat later at night at Chef Mickey's or Ohana's and you can see wishes. At Chef Mickey's they have an observation deck you can watch the show. At Ohana's at 10 pm they switch from music to the show verbage and if you ask for a seat to see wishes you can see the whole thing.....what a treat that was!!! Still not the same as being on Main street but in all we saw wishes 3 times

*No globe for Illuminations:( It just wasn't the same.

Ok thats all I can think of for now, if I think of more, I will post it later!!!

Nice report.. as we were down there the same time as you(8/17-8/29). Chef Mickeys is not under contstruction... but the Concourse Steakhouse which was next to Chef Mickeys has closed and I believe a new counter service is going in it's place.

EMH hours and attractions are posted on WDW website long in advance and you would not have been surprised is you checked it out before going.

We won YOAMD lanyards with pins after exiting the Malestrom. Would have prefered the FPs but the kids were happy with the pins.

The week of 8/17... it was great .... well great in no lines but sucky in that it was raining mostly all day everyday thanks to TS Faye. Yes the week of 8/24 was back to normal weather and the 3 H's. I think my wife did more complaining about the heat then the rain... though it was close.

We drove down this time so we had our van.. but always rent a car if we fly. Getting around by the buses just sucks in my opinion.

Anyway... hope you had a great time as we did. Although the consensus is for next year to go somewhere else.. Yes I said it, thankfully many options are in the DVC catalog.

Interesting. This is the second time today that I've heard this.

Seems like there is a problem somewhere.

Thank you for clarifying that. I had never been there so I did not realize the steakhouse was there......sorry if I confused anyone.

We knew there was extra magical hours and I knew to expect big crowds but, somehow I missed that most of the stuff would be closed. I guess I don't get why they bother to do EMH in the evening there since there are only a few rides/attractions open!:brick:

Oh.....one important thing I forgot. We were never given a bounce back offer. I was hoping for one but, while we were down there we decided we would wait a few years before returning so we would not have taken it but, I know a lot of people have been asking about the bounce back but, nothing was offered to us. It could have been because we checked out at 5 am on the day of departure so don't take my case to be the standard but, still a bummer if they stopped offering the bouce back!

I think sometimes you can ask to see if they have something available if you don't get a flyer/offer!

I had to ask both times. Well last year I saw an add on one of the Disney Stations. Basically it was the Goofy add that says Weve cooked up a hot offer for you call blah blah for more details. But I had already called cause I didnt see that till like our 6th day!
