Day 3: Part 1
Okay day three, Epcot, yahhh!!! I was very excited to go to Epcot so I was up and ready within minutes of hearing Mickey's voice. My friend was a little slower so I went outside to wait and enjoy the beautiful view. I kept asking myself, how am I ever going to return to Massachusetts and the fast approaching yuck of late fall and winter. I want palm trees!
Finally we made it to the bus and we were off to Epcot! I was so excited about this day:sohappy: , I couldn't wait to see Future World, the World Showcase and eat at the restaurant that I had always remember from when I was here as a child, the San Angel Inn. We got in and the first thing I did was take a thousand pictures of the Epcot ball, the Epcot ball with my friend in front of it, the Epcot ball with me in front of it, from the left, from the right.....finally an evil glare from my friend dragged me away and straight onto Spaceship Earth.
Now I know alot of the old attractions are not the most sophisticated but I love them! (A moment of silence for Horizons please
). I think spaceship Earth is fabulous and tells the story of human history very well. I really just like being in this three dimensional world that tells a story and lets you imagine what it was like to be there. Its rides like these that I have always remembered from my childhood and that made me want to come back.
After our ride on SE, I wanted to the camera shop to see if I could get another disk for my digital camera. We went in and I found the disk I wanted, it was half the size of the one I currently had and cost $75
. I looked a some of the smaller sizes and they were all really expensive. I had given up hope when this very nice CM came up to me and told me that I could take the disk I currently had over to the Imagination Pavilion and have it downloaded. This would only cost 11.99 for 40 pictures. I was thrilled!
So over to the Imagination pavilion we go, Epcot was so much larger than I remembered. I saw my plan to finish Epcot in a day, begin to fade away. When we arrived we discovered that it would take three hours to get my disk back so we decided to start on the other side of FW. Along the way we stopped for a drink at the great talking bubbler. As the water goes down the drain it shouts in a voice that sounds like its drowning, "Hey, what do I look like, a drinking fountain?" or something to that effect. It was really funny and unexpected. I imagine more than one person has spit water out when they were surprised by it. We also stopped to buy the Magic Moments pins that light up in specific locations around the park, they turned out to be a great purchase.
Our first stop was Test Track. I had been a little nervous about this one too, stupid motion sickness, but once again I was pleasantly surprised. There was barely any wait so we paused for a moment to take a picture of ourselves with a look of mock horror on our faces before we went in ( the pictures are really funny).
Test Track was so much fun ( I know I say that about everything but I mean it!
). I did not even feel the slightest bit sick and I loved the end where you speed along the track. It was so much fun that we immediately got in line and went again!
After Test Track it was on to Wonders of Life. Here we spent way too much time playing with the senses games before we saw Cranium Command. That is a really funny show, such a creative interpretation of each part of the brain and body. Great fun!
When we came out of CC, I decided I was brave enough to try Body Wars. I had gotten these motion sickness pills that were naturopathic and would not make you sleepy and there was no way to find out if they worked except to put them to the test. Plus the ride only last 5min., I figured I could make it through five minutes.
It actually worked out pretty well. This is probably not my favorite ride at Disney but I only had to close my eyes for the last 30 secs. and I escaped with only a little dizziness and a very slight almost imperceptible nausea. Much better than expected!
On to the next pavilion, Universe of Energy. I though this show was really fun and more than I expected. I thought that you were stationary in the theater the entire time, so it was a great surprise to move through all the great audio-animitronics dinosaurs. As an environmentalist (not the fanatical kind) I enjoyed the message as well. Go Disney!:sohappy:
After EEA, I dragged my friend over to the future home of Mission: Space to take a few pictures. While we were there, we ran into a tour of some sort in which the CM was taking about the ride. That story is in the rumors section under Mission: Space, possible spoilers (an ambitious title that I tried to change later but was thwarted in my efforts)
