Trip report July 13-19th

Well here’s my trip report for July 13th-19th.

To start off I had a great time and still wish I was still down in FL! I can’t believe how difficult it is to try to cover 4 parks in 5 1/2 days! We seriously thought we’d fit a water park in there but never got a chance. We stayed at the All Star Music resort and had a blast! Great food, great service, great time!

We started off our trip in Animal Kingdom and experienced the new attractions there. The new parade is very “Tapestry” in a sense that the floats are gigantic puppets operated by the cast. It was a very cool idea!!! Primeval Whirl was pretty cool and seemed to fit well into the theming of Chester & Hester’s dinoland. What I found the most hilarious is that Imagineers had to make the tarmac look aged and worn with cracks and all. Later on that evening we checked out SpectroMagic at MK and I must say I love this parade. If I had a choice to watch this or Main Street Electrical Parade, I would watch SpectroMagic again. It’s very beautiful and the variety of floats is amazing! Next up was Fantasy in the Sky with Tinkerbell. They had the regular show and tacked on a little bit more for the 100 Years of Magic Celebration. It was pretty cool.

Next up was Magic Kingdom. The next day we went around and used Fast Pass to the fullest extent. Under all that heat, we decided to get FP tickets for all the lines that were outside, it really helped out! We did all the family attractions and then headed back home. The wait times for all the attractions were an hour plus. (E-ride night helped cover all the cool rides, no wait no lines, just run from one attractions to the next as many times as possible!)

Epcot was next, we checked out Future world during the afternoon and got to see the majority of the pavilions. We got a FP for Test track and the return time was 6 hours away. Ick :P. Nothing much as changed in there except that the attractions in this part of Epcot closed around 7 or so.

The studios/Epcot was supposed to be next on our agenda, but Epcot was shut down due to a power failure. That really sucked! The entire park was closed and all the other parks were filled to the brim with guests! The studios was hammered by the influx of guests that they had to show 2 Fantasmics, and all the other parks stayed open later due to the closing :( . So we stayed at the Studios all day long. We took plenty of pictures of the sorcerer’s hat (okay in my opinion). Then we checked out some of the new attractions, we also redid some of our favorites.

On the next day, Epcot’s World Showcase was our final stop. We worked our way around WSC starting in Canada. We made it as far as AA, and then we had to go back to the resort. From there we spent the night goofing around in the pool and then dinner at Wolfgang Pucks restaurant in DTD.

On our final day we went shopping at DTD, for our last minute souvenirs. I picked up a couple of cool books and “toys.”

Hey what's up guys? Newbie here LOL!

I'm making my first trip to Florida in 5 days (25/7/02) and will be visting WDW in the 2 weeks that I am there. I have read that the queues can get pretty darn long and I'm very worried that I won't get to see some of the stuff I wanted to as this will probably be my only trip to Florida as it has been a struggle for cash LOL. Anyways can you tell me what to expect? Any tactics apart from using the FastPass? I have a 10 day hopper which we got in a deal for the price of a 5 day. I can't see the 10 day on the official site so I'm guessing it's only available in the UK? But as well as telling me what to expect gve me some details on the E-Ride night you talked about? Will I be able to do that and what is it and when is it on? Cheers guys for helping a newbie. :sohappy:

First off Welcome to WDWMagic!!!!!

10 days will be plenty of time to visit all the parks. It takes about 1 1/2 days to completly visit a park. As for lines, don't worry about them. Fast pass really makes things easy. All you need to do is stick you park ticket in the machine and it'll print a time frame to come back. From there you can go to another attraction or grab a bite to eat. It's as simple as that. We used our fast passes on the outdoor lines to beat the heat and save grandma from a heat stroke (it's hot down there). Plus the park isn't as full this year due to the event from last year.

As for the E-ride night. Magic Kingdom has extended hours for E ride night. The night I went it was from 10PM-1AM. Well worth it, you get to see the ride at night, which is really cool. Plus the park is completely empty, so it feels like the park is yours. Well on with Enight. You'll can buy one at the resort desk and it's only $12. Cheap if you ask me. After you get the pass you need to head to City Hall in MK and they'll give you a wrist band to say you're a E-rider. From there you have access to 9 of the popular attactions in MK. These include...Haunted Mansion, Astro orbiter, TTA, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Alien Encounter, Splash Mountain, Big thunder Mountain, and Country Bear Jamboree. The majority of the time there is NO WAIT to any of these attractions. The most you'll wait if 10 minutes, compared to a 45 minute or 1 1/2 hour wait. If you can do it by all means go for it. I sure beats standing in the hot sun and crowds!

If you plan to go to the water parks, make sure you go early. They usually close the doors by 11AM or so (be sure to ask front desk). They won't open the doors again till 2pm, so make sure you get there early!

I hope that's plenty of info, if you need more just ask, I'd love to help :):D

So if you can buy the thing for E-Nights at your resort desk does this mean you have to be staying at an on resirt hotel in WDW or can you purchase them from other hotels or even at the entrance to the parks? :hammer: so much info to remember!!! LOL

Hehe..

Just donned on me how you got the UoE mosaic pic.

Too bad I wasn't working that day, I CS'ed. I was in a "no feel like work" mood. I was, however, there the day after the outtage. Did you come by and wave and try to find me?

I gave an awful lot of tours that day too, so you probably should of said hello ;)

I didn't know that you worked at UoE!!! I would have hunted you down! I was in Future world on the16th (tues) and WSC on the 18th (thrus). I was looking for a couple of WDWMagic people but I didn't even know how to start. It seemed like everyone was off the days I went or was in hiding

>Tapestry of Dreams is fairly different from Tapestry of Nations. It’s no longer purely way-la, way-la, way-la. It’s more like…way-la, I dream…, way-la, I dream (in another language), way-la. It’s not as easy to ‘dance’ to.

That sux with the maps! I always told the people who didn´t speak English as a first language not to pick the maps in their language only, but to also get a copy of the one in English printed every week because of the show times in each of the countries! That´s the best part of the WSC experience!

So I take you didn´t like ToD as much as ToN, right? Second parts were never better, so I guess this is not the exception either... :animwink: I haven´t seen it though, but I´m not realy eager to. :)

Glad you had a fun trip! Welcome back! I couldn´t keep the Epcot trivia thread running well... sorry for that... :(

Yeah I didn't really enjoy carrying two pieces of paper all day long. Wasn't as convienent as before. Eh, what can I do?

Yeah TOD was blah. I guess I'm a millenium man. I just loved it when it was purely music. now they have kids talking about what they dream to between each verse. Yeah it's cute, but I like the notion of all nations as one. Plus the Dream dude REALLY scares me!!! Worse than the chucky dolls from Spectromagic

As for the Trivia thread, I did a bit of research and have a whole list of questions. hehehehe. Let's go for the 1000 posts!!!

In all my family had a great time and they really got to see all the new attractions. The last time they went was during the 25th anniversary (with the big cake). This time around they saw DAK and MK in all it's beauty. Very happy  :sohappy: :king: :D

Something else I just remembered...
They've changed soap. I don't know if any of you guys remember the pink powder soap but I know I did, and so did my cousin who went 5 years ago. Well it's now a blue fluid, and I don't think it cleans your hands as well as the old one.

I know, I know, you all probably think I'm crazy. :lookaroun But I'm all about the small details.

If memory serves, you buy the ticket for the cost of E-Ride at your resort and you have to be staying at any WDW resort hotel and have a miltiday pass or higher ticket to purchase E-Ride Night Tickets, After 4pm you go to city hall on main street to pickup your wrist band for identity purposes, so at closing for the regular guests you just show your wrist band and they will let you pass by the closers rope.

Thanks, Mom hasn't been to WDW since we went as kids - 1971 and about 1974 so it should be pretty cool to see her reactions especially with grandkids. My only concerns at this point are the varying levels of energy and the fact that Mom's favorite attraction was IASW :hurl: Just kidding!
p.s. Although I have moved to the far North, land of hot-dishes and Norwegians, I originally hail from that wonderful windy city of yours
