Treating Yourself To Something Special

What times did you decide to forget about the expense, and treat yourself to something special at WDW?
One year, I treated myself to a week in a lagoon view room at the Polynesian. I'll never forget sitting on my balcony, feet up, drink in my hand, watching the fireworks over the castle.

Every trip we go with the understanding that if something "jumps out" at us, we'll spend $500 on something from art of Disney. Haven't gotten anything too special yet but we do get a signed and or numbered print each trip.

Bought my kid a $75 Sith lord Darth vader limited edition pin set.

Funny thing is we're a broke, one income family so those kinda things are extravagent to us.

Me and my wife usually go out to dinner at one the more $$$$$ restuarants at Disney for a special evening out. One of the best experiences was Shulas Steakhouse.

We usually treat the whole trip as something special. We over budget our spending money so we have "extra". It's makes it tougher to save for the trip but once that trip is here, we can live on the frivolous side. We alot an amount each day and what ever we don't spend goes towards the next day so at the end of the trip, we usually have an amount for a needless but satisfying purchase. Or even better, we bring that money home and add it to the next trip. It's all a big game isn't it...

We always save most of our money for DTD/PI... We're not out to get drunk or anything, but we do enjoy a few drinks there and we don't hold back when we see that they cost 5 bucks a piece (especially the fantastic jello shots at PI)... Just for one night anyway... We also buy some fudge to enjoy after the first day at the parks, which is always MK... We take it back to the hotel with us and stay up way too late eating and discussing the day's events :slurp:

Definately! We stayed at the Poly for two nights in February. We decided to extend our stay by a few days and the Wildnerness Lodge was sold out so we switched and it was the first time we stayed at the Poly Lagoon View, it was amazing. We splurged and got the Strawberry Turndown Service which was worth every cent! To sit there and watch the fireworks with my hubby while eating chocolate covered strawberries and Champagne from Epcot (Italy) is something that I won't soon forget! It's also the most we've ever spent on a room ($400 a night). Pure Bliss!! :)

We are already planning our trip for next summer and we're giong to stay in the AK Lodge. We stayed there once before and our whole family loved it. This time however, I am splurging and we're going to stay on the concierge level so that we can do the sunrise safari, but I'm not going to tell the wife and kids about it until we arrive. I hope I can keep the secret because my 3 year old is always wanting to watch the Great Hotels AK Lodge show and it's going to be hard not to bust and tell her.

While the whole trip is something special, I really like to splurge on champagne in Canada, don't know why, it's just become something we always treat ourselves too!

If just my wife and I are visiting for a special event (like anniversary)....

Victoria and Albert's (with wine pairing) What a wonderful 3 hours!
...distant second, but still special is Artist's Point or Flying Fish.

This year we are splurging on Conceirge Lagoon View at Poly. A first for us, but we have been saving and planning this for a while. Also helps we have some discount codes for the hotel. It will cost a fortune but we will enjoy every minute.

Usually we try to splurge on at least a few really good meals. With the new dining discount card we can do that a little more. Every few years we splurge on La Nouba--worth every penny! Last trip in May 2005 we splurged on the sunrise safari at Animal Kingdom, which meant we had to splurge on the concierge level in order to go on the safari. The safari was awesome, one of our best Disney memories after many trips. I'm glad we splurged on it!

While staying at Fort Wilderness I try to arrange a horse carriage ride for the wife and I. Also sitting by the lake with some nice wine and watching the electric parade float by is also a treat. We splurge on what ever treats we want while walking down Main Street. (I can smell the bakery now!)
