i made flight reservations for my hubby (he has to leave a couple days before us). i paid for the paper ticket. which i have received.

now i get an email that the flight has changed, the times are earlier (non a problem) but what does he use for the flight?

do i make a copy of the email, and have him take that and the original ticket?

i am mad that i paid extra to get the paper ticket and have it overnighted too. but that is besides the point.

i just don't want anything going wrong with his flight.

i am hoping some of you experienced travel people would know how this works.

TIA

If the flight number did not change, you should be ok with what you have. If it did change, I would contact the airline and see if they can fax a revised one to you.

He should be able to use his original ticket. When he gets to the airport they will simply print up a boarding pass for him at the main counter. Tickets nowadays are used to exchange for a boarding pass, which is why most airlines want to do away with them - they are superfluous.

Which airline? And what airport? If your airline offers kiosks, he should only have to walk up to one of those with his reservation number and put that in and get his boarding pass right there irregardless of the new flight time.

Most airlines now let you check-in online and print out your boarding passes from home. I would check the airlines's website and if it has that option, just do check in from home. No fuss, no wait.

And I STRONGLY suggest not requesting paper tickets anymore. E-tickets are safe, secure, quick, and don't require any extra fee. And it's one less thing you have to worry about carrying around with you.

Until you get to the airport, realize that you forgot your reservation code, the machine won't accept your name for some reason, and you don't have a credit card.

Lol, e-tickets can be processed at the check-in counter with only a photo ID. You need a photo ID to travel anyway. But per your same logic, if you forgot your reservation code AND your credit card, who's to say you didn't forget your paper ticket... If you forgot those two already, you probably forgot the third.

That assumes that there is someone AT the counter.

The reason I brought it up is because it happened to me, well to my two aunts, who were traveling (first time flying). Small airport, no one at the counter. Somehow they lost their itinerary, and didn't have the code. One had a credit card, but it would not read it. We ended up having to call the airline to get the code to enter it in the machine. Sometimes things are getting a little TOO automated.

meh... I typically do e-tickets... and sign up for that airlines loyalty programme if I'm not already a member. Once the ticket and member number have been combined, it's rather easy to find out the info you need :)

The only time I request paper tickets is when the deal sounds too good... like when I went from MCO-YVR for $34.91 in Jan 2006... in business class :D

Thanks Air Canada and Austrian Air!

It was a mistake fare... all I paid for was tax. I booked it late new years eve (hooray for no life!) and flew out the evening of the first (hooray for no job!) and flew back the evening of the second (hooray for still no job!)

Got some great Chinese food and Canadian greener... err hospitality :D

Those who booked for later dates were not honored. Not only did I get this ticket, I got full frequent flyer credit on my US Airways account :D

I paid more for getting it fedexed than I did for the damned ticket

Just an FYI. Paper tickets may not always be able to be processed at the Kiosk. So IF you decided to go this route, arrive EARLY. The airlines have cut WAY WAY back on live employees (although I have YET to encounter an airport without ANY) and you may have to wait a while.

I hate paper tickets!
