We're booked for our vacation and wondering if anyone can share opinions on if travel insurance is worth the cost? Also can anyone advise the best insurance to look at and the general costs of said insurance?

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

It's totally worth it.Having had to cancel @ the airport on day of departure we would have found ourselves out by a whole load for last minute return tickets home. Thanks to a very helpfull insurance company and a very helpfull Virgin representative (sp) we had our flight costs refunded and were re-booked within 24hrs to go 6 months later (and got an extra week added on)

We'll be doing a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas prior to our visit to WDW. I'm assuming thats considered international?
Absolutely!!!! As many others have said International travel is a definite for me to get travel insurance. Our agency always recommends insurance for any form of international travel. Travel Insurance is exactly for the unexpected that can and does come up. Also ALWAYS review your cancellation policies for each trip as these do change from time to time. If you would lose most/all of the money you have spent on a trip, I would seriously look into trip insurance without a doubt. Hope this is helpful!! Marie

Sorry for the thread bump. I just recently purchased cruise insurance and I had a question about coverage. On my last cruise, my daughters each became sick separately. One was sick in the AM with a fever (we went to a clinic) and the other had a very high fever which required an emergency room visit past midnight. Would those be the types of things insurance would reimburse you for? Copays, meds etc? I did not use DCL insurance btw. Thanks in advance.

Contact the carrier immediately, each carrier has their own covered items and limitations so it does depend on the policy but it is certainly worth the phone call. Marie

I didnt have DCL insurance on my last cruise and was of course worried that if something happened again and more serious, I would be royally scr3w3d. I purchased the insurance for peace of mind just in case. Hopefully we wont need it.

We always purchase travel insurance -- just enough to cover the non-refundable portions of our trip (e.g., airfare, change fees). It's worth the peace of mind -- especially if we're traveling with one of the grandparents (more likely to have a last-minute health issue), or if our travel plans are subject to unexpected delays (e.g., flying out of the northeastern U.S. in winter).
