Here's a good look at the shrubs blocking it off and a peek through at the 8:10 mark of the Tim Tracker's video below.

I wasn't aware of that, that's good to know.Lets just remind ourselves, that Marklin purchased LGB after their bankruptcy, and is still in business. LGB went bankrupt for a second time after sending their molds to China, but has brought them back to Goppingen. They're still a German brand, and much better than Piko.
Yes, I considered that too, but was wondering exactly how much control Germany would have over that display versus Disney. Because, honestly, if another non-German brand were willing to step in and pay for it, I could totally see TDO saying, now what guest would notice. (Obviously ignoring the significant number of model train enthusiasts on this board)They are still ok quality, but noting compared to from the Chesterfield, Michigan plant. I think @lazyboy97o was trying to get the point around that an American brand would not work with the German pavilion. This is also the point that I was trying to make when someone said Bachmann could work as a sponsor.

I am in daily contact with one of LGB's consumer product's heads, and there is no news from Disney for sponsors OR new products. Since their last run, there's been no contact between each other, probably because of the 2 bankruptcies.
If anyone wants a reference, I buy and sell G scale products, and I know everything about these companies, and do professional installations of DCC decoders in their engines.
@mcjaco , parts are easy to find. Try: http://www.trainli.com/ OR IF DESPERATE: https://www.champex-linden.de/
The gears need to be packed with grease, but LGB engines are hard to strip the gears, at least with my use.
I know my use is different to the botanical gardens, but LGB engines are made for the specific abuse that Disney's layout provides:
-Close water features (oxidation to brass track)
-steep inclines and declines (should only be 2% grade MAX)
-Weather(water proof, easily useable in the winter)
We all know they're just prepping the site for this:View attachment 102742

Oh I agree a sponsor is highly unlikely, especially with the additional information you shared about the trench foundation appearing to remain intact. Hopefully it's going back in as it was, at a minimum, but restored to full operation. In retrospect, my point was perhaps best described as wishful thinking.I understand that it seems that the TDO would just say who would notice, but I still do not believe that they will get a sponsor. I frankly just consider Germany as the sponsor... Lol. all I see happening is either they rip it out and make it a garden, or make it EXACTLY as it was before, and just refurbed, that's the cheapest option.
Has anyone confirmed this is just a refurb?
I can only assume an Ant-Man tie in.
Let me get on that...
Good job breaking all of this down. I have collected LGB since before my memory allows me to recollect. Great to see another model enthusiast in here explaining everything. I am learning a thing or two, as well!
Yeah, it's honestly soothing to know that there is a couple more fans out there. Honestly, this is the layout that inspired me to have my own layout in my backyard, so I feel that this is sort of my way to give back to it. People ought to know the truth about what's going on in Germany, the country and the pavilion.
I was surprised to find that people weren't aware hat LGB was purchased by Marklin! It's a good thing though, it allows places like the German pavilion to sell both large and small scale models easily.
I'll have pictures tomorrow.Any updates?
@ScoutN You collect Trains too? (It's a small world after all).Good job breaking all of this down. I have collected LGB since before my memory allows me to recollect. Great to see another model enthusiast in here explaining everything. I am learning a thing or two, as well!
All celebrated when LGB was back in business.I agree completely. I love the train display there and miss the one that used to be around the USA pavilion tree at the holidays. These model trains made in Germany are produced with so much pride it is unreal. I have my first LGB set from '95 that still runs like new. A good friend's grandparents own a model train shop locally. I remember the day I got a call saying that LGB was back in business.
