Trails End or Hoop De Doo?

Will be visiting the world in less than 20 days and would love your opinions on whether we should do Trails End (ADR already made) or Hoop De Doo. The food looks better with a larger variety at Trails End but I'm starting to lean toward Hoop even though it's about double in price.

Second part...we're staying at POP so what is the best way to get to Fort Wilderness? Should we just taxi/uber or take the Disney bus to MK and then a bus/boat from there to Fort Wilderness?

Hoop De Doo is double in price because it is dinner AND a show. Though the food is similar, it is not an apples-to-apples comparison. If you strictly want food, Trails End is the better deal. If you want to experience an entertaining show that has been playing over 40 years, book Hoop De Doo.

The best way to reach either is to take the boat launch from MK. It's just a short walk from the dock to both.

Thanks...completely understand they are different experiences. Guess what I really want to know is if the show is worth the upcharge.

Gotcha. Hoop De Doo has legions of fans; it is a very family-friendly old timey show. I saw it for the first time several years ago and while I enjoyed it, I don't have a desire to see it again.

However, Trails End is part of our regular dining rotation. :)

I liken both the luau to Ohana (albeit ohana has better food) and hoop de doo to trails end. If you like shows, then both are for you. I do not want to be entertained for 2 hours while eating. I have done both numerous timew but as an adult have had no desire to see them again.

Trail's End is a great value and the same menu

Personally, we really enjoy The Hoop and do it every few years (not a regular thing for us, but we do enjoy it still) and honestly, getting to FW just to do Trails End is a long trek. Oh, and on ways to get there (and back) I would honestly suggest taxi/Uber to get there, only since if you miss a bus or boat it could easily take you over an hour to get there. To get back to POP, not sure if they always do it, but when we've done The Hoop from POR, there are actually buses to the various resorts after the shows.

Oops...I'm an idiot. Apparently I mixed up the event we went to. Sorry...got excited I might finally have something to contribute. Thanks to Tuvalu for correcting me!

I can't comment on Trail's End, but we took our 3y/o's to Hoop Dee Do in December. The food was mediocre at best, exactly the quality you'd expect at your typical backyard picnic. In my opinion, it was quite (too) loud in there. We were only there for about 2 hours, but most of our time there was a dance party with the characters. We got some fantastically cute video of our son dancing with Goofy, which made it worthwhile. The trick roping stuff was neat to see. Overall, it was great with the little kids, but if it were just my wife and I, there's no way I'd go back.
You went to Mickey's Backyard Barbecue, not Hoop De Doo. :)

I love Hoop De Doo! The entertainment is cheesy but fun, the interaction is always good.

Your server will keep on bringing food out as you want. After DH and DS asked for a 2nd beer he just brought a pitcher, quicker all round!

We have gone each time we visit, and both DS (17) and DS(21) begged to go back this time, when I thought they might be done with it. I think it's become a family tradition now.

This is how we feel. Not really a huge fan of Hoop De Doo. Would rather do Trail's End or even Diamond Horseshoe

Hoop Dee Doo is a blast! We do it every year and our kiddo loves it as well. She claps and sings and dances and, the whole family just gets into it for some reason. It's just one of the best times we have at Disney.

Either Trails End or Hoop will be a great meal because the food is the same. Depends on if you want the Show at Hoop or not. To get there from POP take the Bus to MK and then the boat back to FW. Will take about 40-45 minutes or so for overall trip but it is a really nice peaceful boat ride from MK to FW. Have a great time!

If you are looking for a quieter evening stick with Trail's End. We find it a relaxing evening and we like to walk around the resort as it can be blissfully quiet after the noise of the parks.
