Trader Sam's discussion

All the resorts have pool bars, but I don't think any have an actual patio for seating...so that will be great, and the Patio at Trader Sam's is a great space...Love that... I wish they would bring a little more of the indoor Whimsy into the outdoor patio though...Although it did have lovely torches, it could have used a lot more decor to make it a more engaging atmosphere....especially since the indoor bar area is so small... I am hoping they do a little more with the Grog Grotto patio...

Kidani villages pool bar has patio type seating for the bar. Most people don't notice it so its usually quiet.

Also, WDW allows children to sit at bars. This has been the policy for ages, as long as I can remember. I remember kids loving to ride the bar stools at the Adventurer's Club.
I think in the end that was what ruined the Adventurer's Club... Not an atmosphere condusive to Adult entertainment as it was intended to be... I don't have any problem with children, except sometimes it is nice to get away from the screaming and crying and have a little adult time... There is a world of other activities and places around that are all intended for kids... They should have just kept a few places for adults...

Just posted on the Disney Parks Blog. It look's like they will be reusing the Uh-Oa animatronic from Tiki Room Under New Management.

Yeah you just beat me to it - I guess that's a neat factor considering WDW had the Under New Management show (which I think was awful in general, but approve the local tie-in). Also I'd like to point out the woman with an awful haircut makes an appearance again, so the original concept art was not featuring a child at the bar.

Yeah, some bartenders allowed it (generally when it was dead and/or they knew the kids in question). And some bartenders will still let it slide. But formal WDW policy and Florida law is no one under 21 seated at the bar. Just because it's honored more in the breach than the observance doesn't change that, and doesn't mean they'd include a drawing of a violation in concept art.

Trader Sam's works so well because of the involvement of the very skilled bartenders...also the quality of the drinks makes it a great experience... I get concerned when I see concept art of kids sitting at the bar...I am afraid that they will make it so family friendly it will cease to be a cool place to go get a cocktail....and in WDW , the bars along the Monorail line are all not too interesting... Outer Rim is less a lounge and more a wide spot in the road, Mizner's Lounge is a bit too small and bland... Tambu Lounge is always packed with people waiting for O'Hana and lacks any real charm except for the Lobby...So I was hoping Trader Sam's Grog Grotto would finally bring the Craft Cocktail to WDW....

Clearly youre not trolling us loyal and regular patrons of Mizner's, now are you?

Because I cant name a better place on property to enjoy a glass of whiskey and listen to a big band play.

I really don't see why you think that.

A hunch. Been the rule at Contemporary since around the opening of BLT (although that's motivated more by proximity to MK). Been the rule at Poly since construction started, and I don't see it going back. Have heard rumblings about it, but nothing concrete.

I mean seriously.... Is this supposed to be a beautiful Disney World Class Resort lounge? Or a Holiday Inn meeting room?

That was photographed while the QSR location was under rehab. Management - against the wishes of the staff, patrons and numbers to back it up - decided to make this a temporary QSR location for a few months.

That photo is not accurate of how it looks or operates today.

and Mizner's Lounge... Well...when the band is not playing, it just isn't that interesting an environment...sort of "any hotel cocktail lounge" USA...and Addison Mizner whom the lounge was named for was an extremely colorful character... He was an architect and designer and had a very unique style... I would think that naming the Lounge after him, they would have infused the interior with a little of his signature style... Which would have made it a really beautiful environment to hang out in before or after dinner.

Well you know it was originally a cigar bar, right?

Shame that what you find uninteresting is actually a high class environment.

Wow, you're just ignorant pal. What killed PI was removing the turnstyles and allowing anyone to walk through, thus removing all sembiance of a controlled environment all for the sake of making a number on a spreadsheet look better. They removed control and anyone was then allowed in.

I spent many a night in Adv Club with @Master Yoda & his kids and they were great.

I’m excited about what I heard and I think it will be even better and slightly different than the one in DL. It will for sure be able to handle more guests..

This is all great news! Thank you for sharing what you can share!

Please keep us updated, as the official concept art and information from Disney is very vague. And the ladies sipping cocktails that WDI draws into the concept art look like goofy 12 year old boys with cheap haircuts, so automatically you can't really trust the official art.

Yeah, but not to toot my own horn, my kids are pretty well behaved. You and I have both witnessed ones that we a problem. We also took the younger one back to the room at 9.

Still, KiKi making my rug rat dust the entire library was pretty priceless.

Yeah that pic is a year and a half old, when the space was being used as a snack bar. But thank you for proving you have no idea what you're talking about!
Wow what a nasty response! And ummm yeah so I know it is no longer used like this, but they added some other furniture and put the bar stools in but it essentially looks the same... It was the best photograph of the room I could find. Man what a nasty attitude.

No trolling to the regular patrons of Mizner's...I have enjoyed the lounge myself many many time... Just wish it were a little more interesting... I like the band but find the decor somewhat lacking...

Wait, do you find the decor (and that was what I was talking about) interesting? Seriously?
My complaint was it was not evocative of the Designer they named it after... regardless of what it was originally used for... It's contract carpet , some tables and chairs and white walls...again, not evocative of the Mizner style... http://.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/disney-grand-floridian-misners-lounge607.jpg

You post a photo to prove your opinion about a place--but that photo proves you've ever been in there! I was just pointing out your opinion is effectively worthless. If you find that nasty, you must truly lead a sheltered life.
