Trade offs: weather vs. crowds

My family and I (wife and two girls 11 yrs old) have a free week at Marriott's Cyprus Harbour next year and want to experience as much WDW as possible. Here's our dilemma:

We can go at our spring break (March 19-26) which will have nice weather but huge crowds, or we can go in early summer (June 6-13) with much hotter weather, but more manageable crowds according to my research. I know June will still be crowded, but it seems like it the HUGE summer rush doesn't start until later in June.

Fellow WDWMagicians, what do you think is better? Nicer weather or smaller crowds?

Thank you!

I have been to many spring breaks at WDW and I think the crowds are terrible then! We have even had cold weather then, too cold, like winter coat cold. I vote for early June, went once during that time and it was very nice. Not too crowded and the pools felt really nice after a long day at the parks.

I would vote for the June date, especially if you want to experience as much as possible. June has later closings, days are longer (more daylight). Who cares if its too hot, every park has its own 'cool off' area or plenty of buildings with AC. Been there at spring break time and its no fun waiting in line after line after line.

Oh man, the trade-off is hot weather vs. crowds? Ugh. I do not like either, LOL. If I had to choose, I suppose I'd rather have the cooler weather. I can stand the lines better if the weather is nice, especially as humid as it gets there. I actually felt like I was "melting" one day last year! Good luck with your choice. :)

After going in early June two years in a row, we are SO DONE with going to WDW in the summer. It is a really tough call, because we also hate crowds...however, if you know what you are doing there are ways to manage crowds. But there is no way to manage the extreme heat. It really just comes down to personal preference....some people do not mind the heat. You'd think that since I am a 5th generation Texan, the heat would not bother me....but I HATE it! The quality of our trips during non summer months have been so much higher...we have more energy, and can do so much more...and we don't have to take as many breaks....and I don't have to take two showers a day like I do in June!

And honestly, there is not going to be a HUGE difference in crowd levels from Spring Break (assuming your Spring Break is not over Easter...if it is, well then the crowds will be crazy). The first week of June is okay, but once you hit the second week, the crowd levels are pretty high. We were there this year the first week of June (May 29-June 4) and the crowds were NOT low, but they were manageable....then we took a 4 night cruise, and afterwards spent another day at WDW (June 8th). The June 8th crowds were pretty crazy compared to what we experienced the first few days of June.

Having done both, I STRONGLY recommend going in June. Yes, it's in the 90's. But if a family of 17 people, ages 2-58 can do it, so can you! Spring Break is a nightmare. Ab-so-lute nightmare. Can't remember a trip I dislike more than that. The crowds are terrible, it's true, but if it were filled with families, like in summer, I don't think I would've hated it so much. Tourist groups of 40+ people and choir, band, cheerleading and sports groups crowded every nook and cranny of the parks - just to get on Soarin' was 120 minute wait, and fast passes were gone by 9:30 AM.

June, on the other hand, isn't too bad crowd-wise. (We went the second week in June of 2008.) Got all the ADRs we wanted and had a wonderful time. I would brave the heat!:)

I would vote for June because it could be hot in March for Spring Break, then you have hot and crowds. We went at the end of May in 2008 and it was not real crowded, or unbearably hot, it should be a little warmer, but not a lot a week or so later. We went last October over the Columbus holiday weekend, and it was pushing 100 degrees everyday, way hotter than normal.

I went during Spring Break in 2008, and I just went back this past June 15-21, and I think they're both pretty comparable. The March weather seemed a little cooler, though this June wasn't nearly as hot as I was expecting. Crowds seemed about the same both times; plenty of people, but never unbearable.

I think either one will work out well for a trip. The weather can be a bit of a mixed bag at either time of year, but I wouldn't expect either late March or early June to be particularly uncomfortable.

Crowds also shouldn't be too much of an issue either. Early June beats most school releases, and any schools that have spring break tied to Easter won't go on break until the end of April.
