Found separate confirmation on micechat:

The note they put where the actual wait may be less than 500 minutes is quite possible considering how many guests may have left for various reasons. Anyway, that's the record for DisneySea, I wonder if the record for Tokyo Disneyland is higher...I'm guessing it is, for Star Tours or something (I know Anaheim's Star Tours wait in 1987 was extreeeeemely long, the park was open for over 24 hours)

For TDL, I would guess that the record is probably held by Pooh's Hunny Hunt or Monsters Inc. Ride & Go Seek, both of which (like TSM) are relatively low capacity attractions.

The popular rides there routinely hit the 3-digit wait-time mark, though. When I visited a couple of years ago for Halloween, even the wait for their Haunted Mansion Holiday was 100+ minutes. (Heck, even the wait time to get a Pooh Fastpass was something like 30 minutes!)

You can still experience nearly all the big attractions in the park -- you just need to use Fastpass very judiciously.

This is all about culture.

How far an attractions wait time can go is entirely based on how long people are willing to wait. The Japanese demonstrate over and over that they are willing to wait almost anything to experience a new attraction. When monsters inc opened, it had absolutely insane waits as well.

They are just willing to wait. While in contrast, dlr locals aren't and why their waits tend to be the lowest, people just won't wait in line and skip it. Only when things are new will they wait.

I finally went on Midway Mania last week when I was at DHS. I never got around to it when I actually lived there because the line was always so long and usually FPs were hours away or gone completely. We got our FPs first thing in the morning and only waited 15 minutes. Honestly, it was kind of fun, but I don't see why it's such a big deal. The stand-by line was 85 minutes and that was the longest line I saw at WDW last week, but we also weren't in the parks at peak times. It would be a push to get me to wait in line over an hour for anything.

Wow! That's your whole day! You'd get in line at breakfast and almost be ready for dinner when you got off the ride. Your price of admission is basically to ride TSM! I'd rather walk around & ride nothing, just to take in all the details & scenery, than ride one thing.
