Toy Story Mania Question?

We went to DHS this past Sunday. We got to the FP machines for TSM at 9:15ish (no EMH) and our FP's were for 11:20. We jumped in line and waited about 20 minutes. When we got off the ride, it was a 40 min wait and fast passes were for like 4:30. It is an AWESOME ride, so I think it's worth at least a 40 minute wait for people that can't go to WDW very often. We are AP holders and go at least 5 or 6 times a year, so we will never wait much longer than 20 min. for anything.

Wednesday August 6th --> 120 minutes (PM)
Thursday August 7th --> 90 minutes (PM)

I rode it today on the 'single rider line' and it took about 1/2hr or so. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it!!!

I know whenever I have been there the rush is to Pixar Place now, not Sunset. As for the 30 min at opening, whether Disney posts 30 min to cover themselves or not...I don't know.

When I was last there (July 3-13) we got to DHS before rope drop, headed straight to TSMM. Two people grabbed FP for the group while everyone else got in line, it still took us 20 - 30 min to get on. Once we got off and made it to Sunset, TOT still had a 10 min wait. Take that for what it is worth, but that was my experience.

Great news for RNR and TOT lovers. Bad news for every online source that needs to rewrite their touring strategies for DHS now. MGM/DHS always has been the hardest park to strategically tour. This only makes it more challenging.

Well I will be curious to see how the wait times will fare once schools get back into session. Hopefully wait times will get a little better. I think these wait times prove at least one thing: The studios are in great need of more family friendly attractions. Maybe we'll see more dark rides that people of all ages can enjoy, rather than the constant push for thrill rides, which excludes a lot of guests.

the truth tsm is good but not worth any wait get a fastpass when you get to the studios and do it no wait its definettly worth virtually no wait

When people figure out that TSM is no better than the Wii games they have at home, folks won't bother.

I was highly disappointed. Except for spinning around in my chair, there was no "wow" factor in that thing I can't get at home on my Wii.

I agree. Personally, I still like Buzz Lightyear better. For me, there's more interactivity, and you don't need 3-D glasses because the targets are physically right there in front (and behind and to the side) of you. I love the theming of the queue at the Studios (not so much at California Adventure, though the building itself is attractive from the outside), and I REALLY love the Mr. Potato Head Audio Animatronic, but it truly is just a 5-minute free video game. Now maybe if they had added a few characters inside like Mr. Potato Head and an actual plot beyond "get as many points as you can" I might like it more. It's not worth anything beyond a 10-minute wait, if you ask me (which you didn't).
Still, it's always good to get new attractions at The Studios and California Adventure, especially if they don't destroy another attraction to do it. I just wish it could have been more than just a video game (on video screens) in a moving car.

My cousin called me last night, she was there yesterday 8/7. She told me that they headed for FPs at 10am and her return time was for after 5pm. She said by te time they made their way back FPs were gone, obviously. I totally forgot to ask about the stand-by wait though, sorry.

I wouldn't say 2 thrill rides at the studios is alot (tower of terror, rockin rollercoaster) and most of the rides at all of the parks including the Studios are geared towards family so if the Studios is the "park that's going to get thrill rides" I say bring them on!! We need more!!

The problem with the studios is that there aren't enough rides, most are shows and they tend to end by 5p, so after that point there isn't that much to do there. I would like to see more rides that everyone can do and not just a few. I know they aren't thrill rides, but ones like soarin and test track are ones that many more people can do unlike RNR and ToT.

Thousands of guests every day on both coasts have to disagree you. It's a hit, and everyone at WDW has been lining up, multiple times to ride it again and again. It's quickly surpassed both Soarin' and Expedition Everest in guest satasifaction.

And I've now played Midway Mania MUCH more than the Wii, because frankly...the Wii sucks.

I agree! TSMM is a unique experience that your Wii cannot come close rto duplicating. It is the ultimate "family" attraction, period. Heck...it even blows the doors off many of the thrill rides.

All the above is my opinion of course. :animwink:

On Friday, August 1, I was at the Studios and witnessed the wait time at Toy Story Mania reach as high as 100 minutes...on Monday, August 4 the Hollywood Studios opened early; once we arrived at 8:15 fastpasses were already going for 12:00-1:00 and they had been completely distributed for the day by 11:30...needless to say, they are VERY hot tickets.

I was in WDW July 11 to July 18 and EVERYDAY fastpasses were gone by Noon at the latest and waits varied from 70 to 100 minutes. I used the singles line (when it was open) and that wait was 20 minutes tops.

I was at DHS on Aug. 6... got there just before the rope drop and bee-lined to TSM. Got fastpasses for 10am-11am first thing in the morning. It was the first times they were giving out. Got in line and realized that TSM was not open yet "technical difficulties." ____ and I went over to GMR,Muppets and ST. We returned a few times to TSM and it still was not open. FPs were gone by 11:30am.

We were told our fastpasses would be good all day. Finally got in FP line at 10:55am and it seemed the rise had just opened. It was great! Saw the stand-by times go as high as 120min. in the middle of the day.

During EMH, wait time was listed as 90 min, but we only waited about 40 for the ride. So I don't think the waits were as bad as everyone had said.

Don't forget that sometimes in the morning, Disney will let the fastpass machines "auto-dispense", letting out a fastpass in every machine every few seconds or so. I know it sounds like something that wouldn't happen, but believe it or not it does happen at TSM sometimes in the early morning for the rope-drop guests. The cast members will tell each person grabbing an auto fastpass to be honest and get only the appropriate amount of fastpasses for your party. Some people do that, and then get another for RNR or TOT.
