Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

One cheap win that could really add to this land is a themed playground. DHS really is the only park to not have a place where kids can just run around since the HISTK closed.. Sure, it wouldn't be an e-ticket, or even a C, but it's something the park sorely needs, and this land is the perfect place for it. A playground made up of giant toys is practically begging itself to be made.
My kids asked for that the past 2 days.

Thanksgiving week crowds...

Can confirm the crowd level. We’ve gone 4 times to HS the past 7 days. Last Thursday it was great. Touring plans predicted 3, was 5. Very enjoyable wait for slinky dog. Sunday’s touring plans expectation 4, actual 8. We had FP for SDD, so it was ok, but it was definitely more crowded. Monday night was on sunset, tower of terror and rock coaster. Tuesday TSL was packed to an uncomfortable level. My daughter noped the 150 min slinky dog line. The one entrance/exit, while temporary, is not helpful. SWGE will be like a wall for a while post-opening.

In other news, a Toy Story inspired hotel is going to Tokyo. I love the Toy Story movies, but when will Disney realize that this property doesn't lend itself well to themed areas.

Fortunately, the point doesn't seem to be a themed area. It's going into the row of good neighbour hotels as opposed to a true resort-style plot. A truly properly themed hotel would be a bit oddly wedged between Sheraton's and Hilton's.

I wonder how much more money they plan on charge over their neighbours.

Has there ever been talk of adding a real gift shop to this land (maybe down the road) or are they committed to sticking to the carts and using villains and vogue? I saw a podcast that talked about them moving a warehouse located behind the Woody statue for more space but that could have just been wishful thinking. I still feel like it was a missed opportunity. It is very surprising to me since Disney is so focused on merchandise sales...

Excited to see this land for myself in February =)

They missed the opportunity for a toy shop with not only Toy Story IP, but to sell all the toys featured in the land from Barrel of Monkeys to Tinker Toys to a set of dominoes. You know that parents and grandparents would be eager to buy the toys they grew up with for their children (but secretly, for themselves). The power of nostalgia compels you!

Just like the Guardians shop at DCA.

Disney baffle me sometimes. My husband and I are currently doing a toy story themed nursery for our adopted son who we will be getting in a few months yet it's almost impossible to get ALL the toys like in the films. Apart from the main ones which I can get in any Disney store, it's almost impossible unless I'm missing something.

It's like also for years I've been trying to find a Tinkerbell Christmas tree topper but apparently Disney don't do them...or at least I've never been able to find one.

They used to sell them because I have one that I bought from the Christmas Store at the Marketplace. It was a number of years ago.
