I actually love the shooting ride and the kids I've taken on it seem to have the most fun there than on any other ride in the park. It's much better than Buzz. It's a fun, interactive ride that is a welcome addition among the other traditional dark rides.

I get they appeal to some. It's not for me. I'm glad you and the kids enjoy it. I still think they could have done better with Toy Story though.

Is it technologically advanced or pushing the envelope of what Disney imagineering can accomplish? No. But it is downright fun and sometimes we have to remember thats what the park is there to accomplish, having fun.
It's the only ride in the park everyone in the park can enjoy. I mean Great Movie Ride but that can get intense for the young ones.

An adult version of a Halloween party taking place at the Studios would be great. They seemed to try with Villains, to a small degree, but since they can't learn how to cap the tickets, it was unbearable (and the park continues to need a lot more to do in terms of rides). I'd still like to see them try. I liked Oogie Boogie's Freaky Funhouse or whatever it was called. So much potential.

Don't call it shooting people might be scared. I however think it's nice but as the headliner? Nah it's a little weak. Still fun yes.

They put a cap on Galactic Nights, so it's not completely outside the realm of possibility.

I have to agree. I'm old enough to remember Pong when it was new, and I had friends in college who would spend hours a day standing in front of a Space Invaders arcade machine. I just never "got" it. As gaming progresses, I am in awe of the graphic content, but I just have no desire to play. TSMM, to me, is just another video game, albeit with cool 3D graphics and technology. I would much prefer a classic "dark ride" with AAs, scenes, and a narrative. I don't need (nor especially want) "interactivity" to enjoy a ride...

This is the first picture that I've seen where you can play "connect the dots" and get a sense of the whole track layout. I know that there is a lot of negativity surrounding this ride (at least on these forums), but I have to say I'm impressed with the size of the footprint. IF they include some cool theming along the route, this might actually be better than many are thinking...

So much could have been done with Toy Story. A dark ride instead of a shooting game would have been a lot better.
I agree, it's too bad that they keep reproducing the same idea with toy story playland and Midway mania.
Mania was originally designed to fit the Pier atmosphere of DCA and somehow they found it easy to fit in DHS with a slight story change.

At least at TDS they also added a Carnival style look and used the original al facade ideas once considered for DCA

Rides look unquestionably better than Paris but it seems like a large area of land where they could easily have stuck a few more carnival type rides in to bulk it out a bit. What they are adding I think is welcome, but more wouldn't have touched the sides of their massive purse strings! Local parks pop these things up all the time, all be it with less themeing.
12 acres for a tea cup style ride and a coaster is ridiculous. Although I dont mind the idea I think this land really lacks layering. That coaster track would have looked better with layering underneath it and over it. Make it really look like a child got really creative and used toy boxes and props to create caves and hideaways. These structures could have been used for store and facilities as well as props.

I still think that what they are building could have easily fit in half the land and then use clever landscaping to fit other Pixar properties within those 12 acres. Even if they stayed with the outside garden theme and used properties like bugs life and then transitioned to structural buildings as the area got closer to the stage buildings and created a small monster inc themed area. So much that could have been done without constantly rehashing the toy story land idea
