Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Yay!!! I'm totally in love with the concept art for Toy Story Playland, it's so adorably cute. The plans exceed my expectations, this looks way better than all of the other Toy Story Playland's. And, I was *not* expecting that cute coaster -- what a nice surprise! We have been discussing this here forever and to know that it's finally going to happen is so awesome. Again, I hope Disney announces an ambitious but realistic timeline to quash some of the rumors.

Well, we don't know that Star Wars will be the one to have the knockout punch, but i'm pretty certain SoA isn't long for this world. I give it <50% shot of Osborne going up next year on SoA.

Again, all of this depends on where SW Land takes up residence and personally, I hope it expands into the parking lot. That would leave SoA and that area for more Pixar expansion in the future.
Given all of the mutterings of a new parking garage and the widespread reports of budget for the project, my money is on SW extending into the parking lot leaving SoA and LMA/Catastrophe Canyon open for something else.

I might be the only one- but I actually wish they would've incorporated RC Racers and even Toy Soldier Parachute drop. RC is a fun little ride, and the two of them cost practically nothing to add them to the mix- both in cost (~$50 mil) and footprint.
It would have been great for adding more capacity and really fleshed this out to an area with little to no waits (outside of the coaster which is likely to be 7DMT brutal).

Overall, I really like it. And I, too, am like the others and hope they create another Pixar area. I'm also very very glad they didn't do cars land. I like uniqueness where I can get it for WDW and DL.

I agree. The only reason not to do this is if they are planning to add more else where. But this seems to be a great opportunity and theme to add some more inexpensive capacity and keep the turnstiles moving.

It's definitely Mater's. The aliens in the purple things are the tractor; the green thing where the guests sit is the "trailer".

Its a fun ride. Part of the fun is mater and the songs he sings while on the ride. Not sure how Disney will capture that part of the magic.
Larry the cable guy did the songs in one take while recording for the ride. Pretty impressive.

I think they've accomplished their mission. What this park needs is some younger audience rides to cater towards small children. As someone who has small kids, who btw love Toy Story, this is a great move. This park was sorely lacking rides and experiences for younger kids. I think their mission for TSL was to cater to the younger audience, leave Star Wars Land to the older kid to adult audience, and all is well with the park. Keep in mind it sounds like all is not announced yet. So stay tuned!

Definitely underwhelming plans in store for DHS. Two "meh"-sounding attractions for each new land.......not much to be encouraged or excited over. If the rumored Monster Inc coaster had been included, that would have been something.

How can you say that? Everything about Star Wars looks impressive. Avatar land looks like the perfect fit for AK, bringing in the mystical world/creature aspect that was promised way back in 98.

Toy story land won't be cars land. Is what it is. However this being john lasseter's baby, I can't imagine this world being a throw away idea. The coaster has the makings of being a must do family ride. Lasseter isn't going to attach his name to junk.
After all, he has come up with the story for all four toy story films and will have directed three of them.
Trust me, he is going to want to walk his family through that land and be proud of it.

I hope the slinky dog coaster works like a slinking dog. It would be cool if the front took off and then the back sling shot forward and then pushed the front forward and kept going with that kind of "slinky" motion. That would be innovative and make me think this is only something Disney could do.

That would be awesome!!

The Paris version is good in concept, but the rides are hideously ugly and the capacity of them would be a disaster in Florida. Orlando version looks uncaparable with a theme of woodys roundup to the right, then futuristic Buzz/aliens to the left, with the standard Toy 'photo ops' dotted around. The slinky coaster will add kinetic energy to much of this land and if anything like Paris, it's cute on a night lit up. I also like how TSMM will no longer seem like it's just randomly been plonked down.

It's a nice addition if taken in the context of what it is and it's purpose (let's hope there's some more announcements soon though).

No one really should have expected an E-Ticket with Toy Story Land. Not justifying it but they see Mania as serving that purpose IMO. I'm just hoping we get another land down the road with an immersive dark ride experience. I'm disappointed in the lack of that the most so I understand why many are sort of deflated by Toy Story land but it's starting to come across as people who were never going to be happy with it and are finding any reason to NOT be about it.

I am happy - anything for the studios is a bonus, and whilst I don't have kids, I agree it's somewhat lacking for the younger audiences (then again we could argue it's lacking for any age demographic!) - I'm just hoping we'll see some more - Speak up John Lasseter - Pixar is your baby!!!

Agreed. And trust me. I want more. I really was expecting a Pixar dark ride of some sort. I'd imagine that's probably on the cards just not announced yet. They need something for 2017.

The slinky dog coaster in the land overview concept art does not match the slinky dog coaster concept art. So which one is it going to be?
In the land overview we see a very lengthy coaster on red tracks. In the other we see no red tracks, more of a "flat track" style, and small bridges and tunnels that are not present in the other.

I'm not impressed by the announcement of new lands.....that only have 2 new attractions in it. If I had been at D23 to hear this, I'd have been yelling out "why only 2?" and tried to get the crowd to chant that too. New land announcements are good, but only putting in 2 attractions and then adding some more restaurants isn't anything to get too excited about.

Why does it only having two rides make it Meh? Diagon Alley only has two rides, but you would be hard pressed to find anyone calling it "meh".

I just don't see how excitement can be built over new lands being added, but only having 2 attractions in it? And I know more than a few who aren't impressed with Diagon Alley.
