It's going to be interesting to see the boundaries of this and what has to close to accommodate the construction. I assume the entire back lot and animation studios areas.
I dont think so. I believe both will be finished before 2021, being WDW's anniversary.
major work at DHS what do you think ?
Will they make any major announcement for Epcot next.
Nope, but competition is good. Probably the main reason we are getting all this cool new stuff in DHS.Does this knock uni off the map?

2021? So much ambition. So much construction! My boys will be 18 years old by then! Will I still be able to keep them interested in going to Disney?
Ha! Universal will have built probably 4-6 more E-tickets by the time this fully opens (2021). If anything, this saves Disney from being knocked off the map by Universal.
Groundbreaking in March of 2010 and 7DMT opened May 2014.OK, I'm not asking this to be funny or sarcastic, I'm just trying to remember how long did the fantasy land remodel/expansion take? I was thinking a total of 4 years, opening in phases starting in year 3. If they start working on this next year is it possible we could start to see phased openings starting in 2019?
I hope you are sarcastic. There is no way two parks, no matter how many rides would knock WDW off any map.
I'll tell you one thing...It will be non-stop fun in Orlando now.
OK, we were there in 11/2012 for MVMCP and they had a "special viewing" of the new fantasy land items. The little Mermaid ride and the Tales with Belle were open. That was 2.5 years after ground breaking. I'm not saying that is speedy by anybody's definition but I think it is realistic that we could see some new things opening in 2019 with everything being open in 2020, IF they break ground next year.Groundbreaking in March of 2010 and 7DMT opened May 2014.
I would hope with the closure of the Backlot Tour this past winter that they are ready to roll and that it won't take 2 years of planning.I guess it depends how long this was under wraps and how far along the planning has gone behind the scenes. If they are ready to break ground and know exactly whats going in beyond just concepts then it could be shorter. 3 years tops. if its just a concept drawing with no guts behind it 5 years. I don't think this can be opened in phases it would hurt the impact of it. I think you need to walk into the completed world to have impact.

You make a good point, I can see them wanting to open each "land" in its entirety but I think they could open each one independent of each other. They could open each one 6-12 months apart and make more $$ with separate "grand openings".
It's gonna take some time but man it's going to be great for Disney fansIts the best news out of Disney regarding their parks I've heard in recent memory. They needed something huge to draw crowds and they are pulling off something now thats gonna appeal to such a range of people its gonna be incredible.
some folks were suggesting that the DHS name should be changed with all the closing BUT now that the new changes have been announced does the name DHS make sense again?
