I surely hope that you can tell the difference.

Oh i can, I except I come from a different culture regarding guns, but my issue is not with guns. After all I was trained to kill :lookaroun I always remember the feeling of respect I had for this object that was placed in my hands.

I agree guns dont kill people, but perhaps we could do better educating kids that they’re not really toys.

Also in the happiest place on earth shouldn’t there be a little respect for families of gun crimes?

Ok, I am the mom of two girls. On our trip in May, our 5yr old insisted on getting the pirate hook hand, the sword and hat. She loves playing dress up-princesses, mermaid, pirates and cowgirls. If she didn't already own a toy gun she probably would have asked for one of those. ;)

We live in Illinois, near Missouri, our kids went on a field trip to Meramac Caverns and the Jesse James Wax Museum. At the JJWM our youngest bought a cowboy hat and gun. the whole drive home she was pretending to be JJ. Our kids know not to rob or shoot people, just like they know they won't grow up to be a mermaid. we let them explore their imagination. THey don't play video games, they read books and play dress up. I guess it really comes down to the parents, what they inforce and what they ignore.

Maybe not literally but, as the mother of a son with a big sister who had a lot of Barbies let me say that children can and will improvise with whatever they have access to. I personally have been pretend shot with a Barbie doll on more than one occasion!!

All I know is that it is extremely disturbing to see a boy on a balcony at AKL with an angry expression on his face pointing a realistic toy gun, bought on Disney property, at the animals. It's just not Disnical.

Yes, people kill people, but that doesn't make guns "right."

Please....... :hurl:

They sell like crazy at Pirates, especially with Halloween coming up.

What drives me nuts is when they always try to shoot Petey or myself. :brick:

There are no realistic guns sold on property.

I agree. And I think cigarette smoking should be banned out of respect for all the families of cancer victims as well as lighters and matches and the burning cabin on Jungle Cruise out of respect for victims of arson and loss from fire. And Small World should be drained so as not to upset families of those who may have drown. The number of toy guns sold at WDW over the years versus the number of those who owned these Disney toy guns and went on to commit a gun crime... I think some of you are over reacting just a touch...

As for the Barbie refference, any thoughts on the physical attributes of a Barbie doll playing a later role in the eating disorder problems we face in this country? I know, I know. Just take it all away and the world would just work... :D

When someone starts running up and forcing into peoples mouths Ill agree that its similar to weapons as toys. Isnt avoidance of passive smoking being given support?

So no problem with the Jnr Bomber kit then? After all its unlikely they will go on to blow up a train plane or building.

Sigh. You are using the same false logic that violent video games and movies are causing kids to kill people, when in fact, the numbers for violent crime by children is at its lowest point on record. You can check the FBIs own stats if you don't believe it.

Those Toy Guns are Important!!!

I love the toy guns. I still have mine, pre orange-cap era from when I was a youngling. I fell in love with it right outside of Pirates of the Caribbean. The toy rifles are actually historically significant and ALL Disney fans should recognize it.

The rifle is supposed to be like Besty, as in Davy Crockett's gun. Without the money from the Davy Crockett show, the funding of Disneyland would never have been reached. On the day DL opened, there was a song and dance number about this particular rifle.

The toy rifle stands alongside the Mickey Ears as one of the longest running souveniers at the Disney parks.

There is nothing wrong with kids playing with toy guns, if you teach them that real guns are only for fightin' off Injuns, pirates and self-defense against live-threatening danger.

Ignorance of weapons is what has caused the tragedies we seen over the years.

Also: Make sure to mail the flintlock pistol or rifle home. The airlines are none too keen on replicas- even toys or drawings.

What logic is that, who mentioned kiddy crime? Try reading whats on the page rather than talking out of your rectum, i know that may be a push. :drevil:

The issue is not that kids playing with guns that they become killers in the future. The issue with realistic toy guys is that a child may pick up a real gun thinking it was a toy and shoot someone.

As Thrawn has mentioned there are no realistic toy guns sold on property. I also believe you are not aloud to sell realistic toy guns in the USA anymore. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that is the case.

I have no problem with kids playing with toy guns but don't think you should be able to have a toy gun that looks like a real gun.

I don't think that video games or movies make kids into killers. If you are sick enough to kill you are sick enough to kill, the movies and games had no hand in that happening.

If you talk to your kids and make sure they know between right and wrong they should be fine. It is everyone else's kids you have to worry about as you have no idea how they are being brought up.

I guess my point is whats the difference between a realistic looking toy gun and a realist looking toy Buz Lightyear Lazer, or a realistic looking abomination doll (that in the movie was as bad as a weapon)......

People just dont know where to focus the brunt of their frustration on certain issues:

* Guns dont kill people. People kill people.*

When is the last time that a loaded gun, sitting on a table all by its lonesome pointed itself at someone and killed them? You could stand there and cuss that gun up one side and down the other, but it wont go off. There is no reason for gun control. Criminals will always find a way to get a weapon to harm. Thats just my opine and its free.

You are using the logic that if a child does something as a child, they will do it as an adult, are you not? You quoted your "Junior Suicide Bomber" joke twice, so yes you are. That logic doesn't hold up to verifiable fact.

This statement is just so true.

Imo, you are half right.

Guns alone don't kill people, its people WITH guns that kill people. You take the gun out of a persoms hands and it won't go off. That is the best solution.

The only guns that you will ever get are the law abiding citizen's guns. You'll never get guns out of criminal's hands.
