Not a bad thing at all though. They designed it specifically so that they could do this with it. If only all their attractions came with this kind of upgradeability built in, eh? :)

Mr. P you are not crazy (at least not about this!). I believe there is a whole other thread around here about this topic.

Thank you! .:sohappy: I’ll go see if I can find that other thread.

Thank you. I went and checked it out and I have to say… they don’t look anything like people in radiation suits! Guess I should just be happy I even noticed them, eh? :)

Well, the exclusive WDWMagic got on this only makes the wait harder to endure! Great graphics, Steve, congrats! Personally, I'm more interested on the effects. Sure, random drops are gonna be great aditions, but new effects to improve the attraction itself are gonna be awesome, a more immersive experience, like a Disney attraction should be.

2003 - Twilight Zone: Tower 4 - Confirmed - (11/8/02) In addition to having spies across the globe, once in awhile I have to leap into action myself. Without going into details, I soon found myself standing on Sunset Blvd. looking to the maw of the Twilight Zone itself. Strange new sounds were echoing down the street from the beast and I blended in with the crowd of International Journalists that were being funneled down the street to feed the big angry machine. First off... let me say that Tower 4 rocks. I only had time to take two spins to get a taste of what we will all get to enjoy in January, but it was enough that I want more. The machine has taken over and you will no longer know what to expect, or even when to grasp for the lap bar. Even better... when they are finally done there wont be any more lap bar to grasp. Every row will be converted to feature only seat-belts... giving you nothing at all the hang on to other than the person next to you. And trust me... you will be wanting to hang on to something since this new version will feature four very different ride programs, each more powerful than anything we’ve experienced yet. The four different programs will play in a random order so you’ll never know which version of the ride you’ll get. The tamest one of all is said to be a slightly modified version of the current Tower 3 program they are running now. I rode this version_ myself on the second try, but the first run through the Tower was quite a different experience. I’m not going to spoil it for anyone right now other than to say that from start to finish, you won’t know if you are going to be shot up or down at any given moment. The ride has added all kinds of new special effects to the mix as well. New sounds, new lighting, new visual items, and even blasts of air and the smell of burning rubber. But you wont get every effect on every ride version... some things, such as the burning rubber smell, are exclusive to one of the ride programs only. Even better... it seems the possibilities are not over yet as they can apparently add new programs and effects to the ride at a whim.

This all sounds really cool and I don't want anyone to think I'm not excited about it but I wonder how these changes will affect ride capacity. There is going to be one less seat and I'm sure that the seatbelts are going to add time to the loading/unloading process.

I know that capacity hasn't been a problem most of the year since RnR but with capacity going down and popularity suddenly going way up, I wonder how much time these changes will add to an average wait time. I'm guessing that the seatbelts will do more damage in this area than the loss of a seat really will.

I know it seems minor and for one car it is, but if you are waiting in a line that goes back into the garden... I don't know, I'm sure they've looked into it. I'm probably just over-analyzing things. :)

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but why are they removing the bars for the seatbelts? Is there any particular reason??? Thanks!

It's due to the new programing. Ito wild now for the lap bars, so now seats are being installed.

According to the WDWMagic ToT Exclusive :D there were 22 seats, and now there are gonna be 21, right?

That wouldn't hurt capacity. Nor will the new profile. The profile has been worked out by a matmatician and has the max capacity in mind.

My statements about time were more in relation to the seatbelt thing. Before, they just had to walk by and give the bars a tug to make sure they were down. Obviously, they are now going to have to have something that shows which belts aren’t buckled like they do on rides such as ST, and Dinosaur. I know it isn’t THAT big of a difference but I still think about the problem where they have some stupid kid buckle and sit on it or someone can’t find their buckle and then they can’t get it in the latch or whatever… They are going to have to do a visual check of all persons as well as having it monitored electronically to keep people from trying to sit on them and the second thing is going to happen because it happens half the time on Test Track and people wig out because their car is moving and they aren’t buckled in (reason they have the guy at the top of the spiral that checks).

I’m just thinking that in the tower, the hold position is the loading position which backs things up… I’m sure you are right. I’m sure they thought about all of this but I wonder if there will be any consistent effect from these new unavoidable delays… I don’t expect it to add 20 minutes to wait times or anything but the seatbelt thing is going to add a lot more hassle for the poor CMs that work loading and unloading and it will add something to the time for both…

I really am being trivial at this point but these are the things I think about late at night (like right now when it is 4:00 in the morning and while I’m at work and should be thinking about other things (like when I made my last post)
:hammer:
