tour everest with an Imagineer....

I haven't watched the video yet. Were the Imagineers asked why the skeleton of the mountain was visible during the backward drop? That seems like such a cheap fix; hang a black tarp between where the light comes in. That, almost as much as the broken Yeti, make Everest poorly executed attraction in my opinion.

One wonders what they're playing at? I'm sure they know this is a sore spot with a LOT of people...broken yeti...half the effects not working at a given time...I call it brave to tour folks through an attraction with so many issues...

Why let folks tour through it? Will there be some arbitrary reason to not take folks up to see the yeti? Should folks with epilepsy not tour that section when the strobe light comes on? Will it be something stupid like that?

What a shock! Jeff Lange posted that he was selected for this tour.
I would just like to add, I was selected a few weeks back for the previous LTM tour with an ambassador (I entered on the blog and was surprisingly selected). On my tour was a guy I recognized from his amusement park website. The TOT bellhop tour guide also recognized him and asked how he was selected for this tour. He responded that earlier in the week someone told him about the tour and how he could get in on it. He was not "randomly" selected for this tour, he got in because of his connections. When I saw that this week's LTM tour was limited to 10 people each, I immediately wondered how many bloggers would be "selected" for the tour also.

The issue with Everest and the Yeti was that the Imagineers we so excited that they didn't for see the issues of how the heck do you repair the Yeti. The Yeti that is up there is one big animatronic which is the way most companies would build one. But there is no way to fix it with out closing down the ride taking it all down fixing it and taking it all back up and in a park where that is one of the few and only attractions that is sometimes not an option.
With that being said I had a friend who recently returned from a tour at the Imagineering office in Cali who actually go to talk to one of the main Imagineers. They couldn't say much but he did mention that their is a plan to replace the Yeti with out that easier to maintain and fix. As I see it its probably an issue with the people writing the checks saying we spent money on it already to build we aren't gonna pay to rebuild it.
