ToT Lost Sequence

Very easily, it would seem. Just seem to be unlucky with dust in the air there. I don't think any of the effects, aside from the false ending, really added anything to ToT. The 'ghosts' are blacklit statues just mounted there.... not terribly impressive.

Well since you are moving like 60 mph in the shaft, I don't think anything more than some statues is necessary. Heck, even cardboard cut-outs would do well in the shaft.

Actually, the max drop speed is only 39 mph.

If it is somthing like a "technical difficulties" mesaage then a drop,
I don't think some people would like that at all. And what if there really was problems with the ride?? Is that safe?

Exactly!

I actually rode it on one occasion... and as we entered the drop shaft, the ride shut down... we were just left there in the dark.

Anytime a ride functions in a way it's not expected to, people will get worried.

The first time I rode it, there was problems when you turn around backwards at the end, and I was holding on as tight as I could because I had no idea if it was part of the ride.

i agree. i enjoy the idea of the air cannons and flashing lights if they were used to their full potential. the 'ghosts' are pathetic. so much more could have been done.. they seriously just look like the plastic figurines that they are; just sitting there, and occasionally lighting up.

dont get me wrong.. i love the new drop profiles, however the 'incredible new special fx' are a joke.

new fx

what exactly happens with these lights and air cannons and cardboard people? Also, are they using all seatbelts now and not the bars? What other effects do they use in the drops?

Basically the ride stops momentarily in mid-drop, you see the ghosts of two of the people that disappeared, then there is a loud growling noise and they blast cold air at you through air cannons. As far as other effects they have added in additional sound effects, some lighting is a tad different, and then the "surprise" ending which I've gotten a few times, which actually scared the crap out of me the first time. I thought the ride was over but nope... back up to the top we went. I kept thinking, ok the movie is playing but we aren't pulling back, then the car started to rumble and shake.... eeeeep......

So I'm guessing that nobody has experienced the smoke enhanced drop that they were testing right after the Tower came out of its recent rehab. I went on it just after it came out of rehab and the sequence we had was pretty intense. I remember that we were brought to the top of the tower after leaving the 5th dimension, then there was a loud noise of an elevator cable snapping, the car dropped all the way to the bottom, and they pumped in a scent of burning rubber. They had a sound effect that made it sound like the brakes trying to stop the car, and at the bottom they had pumped in a bit of smoke so you ascended and descended through this cloud. It was crazy!!! And I've only experienced it that one time.
