ToT Lost Sequence

It's time to resurrect an old thread! :D

Since it is (nearly) Spring 2004, has anyone heard any news about the Tower going down for slight rehab to install the Lost Sequence? Or anything for that matter?

That is, if the Lost Sequence is still a go...

"The 5th Sequence requires some serious modifications to the Horton Doors. Lighting, Sound, and other added modifications."

just wondering...out in CA. with TOT they are "running" the ride and you can hear music and see flashes of light coming from the top opening(elev car and from the outside). (see my post for TOT update @Disneyland park)

is this whats everyone is talking about?

one of the sequences i was on it shot you up before you went down...then it faked you out by showing the film then shooting you back up. Is this one the most intense?

They are also planning of completely replacing the 5th dimension show scene.

I think that could be cool, sometime down the road. No need anytime soon. I doubt it would be terribly difficult either. The space is only decorative. There are no massive mechanical components to worry about. Could be cool.

False Ending

You can tell when you get the false ending sequence because instead of the swirls on the screen that you normally get when the drops end, the people who disappeared in the elevator show up on the screen in blue, pointing at you, before you shoot back up to the top for one more drop.

What exactly is the plan for this 5th dimension, as far as a drop sequence (or additional surprises) goes?

Yea... it's like "something goes wrong" You are told there are tech difficulties, then some sparks fly above you and your elevator car drops. Then the most terrifying drop sequence begins.

Since the current 5th Dimension room is really all fiber optics, coulden't a separate scene be added unscene and when you go through it is random of which on you will see.

Like you go through and it's the fifth dimension but you ride again and the family is there waiting and like a black hole opens and sucks you in where the drop is.

But the ride would be different everytime you rode it. It would be insane.

Another cool thing would be a drop where the door are closed or the shaft is glowing a bright color as you fall....

And couldn't the ride handle the 5th drop now because of the rehab last OCtober?

I don't believe that an announcement or false safety concerns could ever be used in a ride. E-Stop and other emergency warnings need to be kept explicitly separate from ride theming. Such fake messages could be extremely dangerous.

Umm... No.

LOL.

Universal is opening up a ride next month with an entire false exit that sets itself on fire. I don't think directions need to be kept seperate from reality.

Heck, look at the Great Movie Ride, Disney already does this...

"Please remain seated, we're experiencing tech. difficulties... etc...

However, if anyone thinks that they are in physical danger at any point on the Great Movie Ride, they need help. "Oh my god, the second rate animatronics are rising up to kill us!!! Oh my god... we're moving at 3mph instead of 2!!"

With ToT, I think some people actual have a genuine concern about the safety of the drop. And we can't deny that the possibility does exist, figuring the 1 accidental drop that's already occured.

They shoudl have the drop shaft with a strobe light going the whole time, so you can experince a seizure while you drop. But think how cool that would like falling and everything is moving slower than you.

I thought we were talking about the drop shaft... I've never heard any music in there...

... and a complaint about the air cannons that were added during the last rehab... every time they have shot debris into my eyes... not fun.
