Tortuga Tavern Island Dinner Buffet

Just made my ressies for December 26th. After 19 visits beginning in 1976, this will actually be my first time to eat here. I just never found the regular menu all that appealing. I'm looking forward to something new on top of all of our traditional "must-do's". Like others have suggested, there is no eatery I miss more than the Adventureland Veranda. The Teriyaki Steak sandwich was my favorite food item on the property. I liked the ambience, too. Seems like such a wasted space.

That seems expensive to me, and not exactly an impressive menu.

I would much rather they were open year-round with their regular menu. I love the burritos and nachos. It's a change from the constant burgers/fries.
While I do agree with you that this is too expensive, I'm going to disagree with you on your "burgers/fries" comment. Sure years ago WDW only served cruddy burger, fries, and hotdogs. Now though?! You've got to be kidding me! While the option is still available, you cannot call that a constant any more! Have you looked at the restaurants lately? Have you tasted the food lately? The quality level is way higher than it was - You'll just have to admit it.

I agree to a certain degree. Much like the fast food industry - the prices have increased but the food portions have went down a lot at disney. The little handful of fries they give with an order is pathetic - I have always asked for double fries and in most cases they do it. The burgers on the other hand are superb - I love the burgers are ABC Commisary and Pecos Bills remain number 1. I still love the chicken nuggets but I much prefer the old chicken strip basket with the mustard, yum.

Problem here is that neither the dining room or food is worthy of the asking price. However, people will no doubt take the offer during that time when there are no other options.
I have no doubt it's being banked (so to speak) on.....

While I do agree with you price and portion wise, I would much rather wat at BoG for lunch than Peco's Bill - If you see what I'm saying.

This menu seems like crop. I still remember when Cosmic's modified the menu and I was working there, they wanted to pattern themselves after Miami Subs (cheesesteak with toppings) and Boston Market (rotisserie chicken and sides) and those seem better than this buffet. At least this buffet does not have the usual taco salad. By the way, when Tortuga was serving the good ole taco salad and burritoes they had like that toppings bar and I see guests having lettuce, cheese, salsa, and sour cream lunches. A perfect companion to the Pecos Bill mushroom and onion lunches!

Whoa, dial it back a little. I was just referring to MK - which, in my opinion, could benefit from better options. I love CHH but it's always full to the brim, and by and large, the rest is burgers and fries.

I beg to disagree with most of this. I loved the yesteryear chicken strips and the nuggets are a poor replacement for the former strips. I enjoyed the occasional kosher hot dog, not so much the "healthier" chicken dog they replaced it with (and then dumped fat loaded gourmet toppings on most of the chicken dogs, hypocrites.)

I enjoyed the fries at the kiosks that were McDonald's, made a great snack. I nothing but contempt for the Commissary or most QS venues at DHS, Disney should hide in shame for not being able to right that wrong. Throughout these forums are threads loaded with what menu items have been dropped and lower quality offerings substituted, blame mostly placed on the Dining Plans. So no, I'm not in your camp and won't admit the quality level is way higher, just the opposite.

Where Disney tried to improve QS options was BoG. Unfortunately it isn't a QS option. I've seen the length of the line to get into the place at lunch. That is a "Fail" for QS. Would you put up with that anywhere else but Disney if you wanted QS dining? They should just make it TS all day and be done with the notion they can pull off QS at BoG. Offering a FP+ for an ADR for a QS lunch, they are half way to TS already. I'm not one to walk around chewing on a turkey leg so the newest offering of gnawing on a shank isn't really a quality offering to me either. More, more opportunities to be treated like an animal ripping into caucuses.

Haha sorry about that... Didn't mean to come off so harsh. This is my mistake, I though you were talking about WDW as a whole. When talking about MK, I'll agree with your original statement. So sorry ♥

I guess it is all opinion. Frankly, I have never chosen a burger or hot dog over something else, but hey, that's just me. What I will agree with you on though is that BOG should be TS all the time. Everybody likes different thing though, and we all voice our opinions. I am so very sorry if I came off harsh and/or was offensive. That was not my point...
