I feel Sorry for them here is some info from MSNBC: Walt Disney Co.’s Disney World, just south of Orlando, was not affected, a spokeswoman said. One tornado ripped through a 9-mile stretch and narrowly missed the crowded tourist area that includes Disney World, Universal Studios Florida and Sea World. here is link http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16940788/

My Aunt e-mailed me back said that the tornado hit just 5 miles from where they live in Deltona. They have no damage at all. Christmas Day a tornado touched down just 1 town away.

I seriously need to start watching the news every once in a while because I found out about this like an hour ago when my dad called to ask if we felt any of the storm last night where we live. I was like, "Storm? What storm?"

That article has a map with a messed up scale, and makes it seem like the tornados were about 13 miles away, not true. And the tornados weren't even in the same county as Disney. They were quite a bit north.

All ok here

Hi Gang,

I live right behind the Animal Kingdom. (2miles directly west) We did not get hit that bad here. I was up this morning watching the storm and we had quite a bit of wind and rain but nothing that would cause serious damage. Since I live directly west of disney and the storm was moving west to east then what I got is exactly what disney got just minutes later. I do not believe there is any more damage than what we get here in the summer with our afternoon thunderstorms.

what county is wdw in?
Reedy Creek Improvement District (WDW's 'city') spreads across a couple of counties...
The District is a public corporation of the State of Florida and is located in Orange and Osceola Counties in central Florida, about 15 miles southwest of the City of Orlando. The District currently encompasses approximately 25,000 acres or 38.6 square miles. Approximately 18,800 acres of the District's property are located in Orange County and 6,200 acres are located in Osceola County. Two cities are located within the boundaries of the District, the city of Lake Buena Vista and the city of Bay Lake.

Hope this wasn't mentioned yet (even though the article's date is Feb. 3rd):

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/business_tourism_aviation/2007/02/disney_donates_.html

The Walt Disney Company said:
The Walt Disney Company announced today a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross to aide in relief efforts following the severe storms and tornados that impacted Central Florida on Friday, February 2.

"Central Florida is our home and we are committed to assisting in the rebuilding efforts," said Meg Crofton, President, Walt Disney World Resort. "As the relief efforts progress, we will continue to help those in need through strong community partnerships throughout Central Florida."

Disney Worldwide Outreach and Walt Disney World Resort will provide ongoing support through in-kind contributions to Red Cross shelters. The donations include water, blankets, pajamas, games, DVDs and other items.
