San Angel Inn - we have always enjoyed it in the past and love the atmosephere
* My very Favorite.... Restaurant Marakkesh/Morocco Pavilion -
love, love, love! Our kids love it also. We discovered it in 2005 while walking around WS starving and tired and with out any luck at getting in anywhere else for lunch and very long lines at most of the quick serve locations. Went in, were seated right away, great food, wonderful service, and enjoyed the "show"-musical performers and belly-dancer. Our daughter was brought out by the dancer to dance with her and other children, she came around after to the table for a photo...the husband enjoyed that, you should see the pic. Service is outstanding, so friendly and attentive, always sign our daughters autograph book with a nice note in their native language. Have went back every trip since, our kids insist. We all have a dif fav, my personal favorite is the Vegetable Couscous, delicious! We have ADR's for Dec.22 at 5:30 for dinner with CP package and can't wait!

We love it. It's our must do on every trip. We've never had bad service and the food is amazing. We've actually always had excellent service from the CMs. Couscous is an acquired taste though so don't be put off if you don't like it at first. Neither my mom nor I did either but each time we have it we like it more and more. The first time we went we had the Royal Feast which gives you a little sampling of a variety of dishes. This is what you get with the Royal Feast: Harira soup, Beef Brewat Rolls, Lemon Chicken, Roasted Lamb Meshoui, Couscous with Seven Vegetables, and Assorted Moroccan pastries. Unfortunately if you are on the basic plan, this is not an option unless you are willing to pay for the appetizers but it is a good introduction to Moroccan cuisine.

If we're not having the Royal Feast our favourite dishes would be

Appetizers:

Beef Brewat Rolls - Layers of thin pastry stuffed with seasoned minced beef, fried and sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar

Combination Appetizer for Two - Beef Brewat Rolls, Chicken Bastilla, and Jasmina Salad

Chicken Bastilla - Baked layers of thin pastry stuffed with minced chicken and almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar

Entrees

Lemon Chicken - braised half chicken seasoned with garlic, green olives, and preserved lemon

Roast Lamb Meshoui - roasted lamb shank in natural juices served with couscous

Desserts:

Bastilla - crispy leaves of pastry topped with vanilla cream and sprinkled with toasted almonds

The Bastilla comes as a choice for one or for two. If you order it for 2 you get a larger portion and 2 spoons/forks and 2 additional small plates. It's much easier to forego the additional small plates and just eat it off the plate it comes on. It is a crispy pastry layered pastry so to try to divide it in two is next to impossible.

We also like to have a Moroccan Sunset which is a non-alcoholic drink made of pineapple juice, strawberry juice and orange water.

As I said, we've always had excellent service, we've even seen the CMs here go above and beyond for difficult guests. We saw it happen in June when a guest demanded an apple martini, not a drink that is customary in Morocco. This same guest was sharing our waiter and monopolized his time so another waiter stepped in and made sure that our time there didn't suffer because of this difficult guest.

If you're willing to be a little adventurous then I say give Marrakesh a try. We did and it is now a must do for every trip. It is our restaurant of choice in World Showcase. We rate it above Le Cellier and we'll be in Marrakesh for our Processional seating once again this year.

Forgot to add that if we're ordering something other than the Royal Feast, we usually order the Roast Lamb Meshoui. The lamb is so tender it just falls off the bone and it is served in the most amazing orange sauce that just totally compliments the lamb. Ok...I am totally making myself hungry now :slurp:

Some of those dishes sound really good :slurp::slurp: il def be heading to this place!!! Im gettin hungry just reading about it :slurp::slurp:

Sorry that it has taken a while to reply, but its been a busy day. San Angel Inn has a great atmosphere. It sits by the water with a great view of the pyramid. You truly get the feeling that you are spending an evening in an outer courtyard. The mariachis are kind of cool when they come out to play in the marketplace. I truly enjoy the atmosphere. My only problem with this restaurant, ironically, is the quality of the food. The menu is limited, and the actual items are hit-or-miss. Also, the service can be inattentive and rushed, depending on when you go. I still think that its worth a try for the sake of the experience, if nothing else.

This seems to be the trend, great atmospere bit lacluster food, any1 out there enjoy the food here??

WS hidden gem...literally. Marrakesh can be a little hard to find as it's hidden at the very back of the pavilion. You need to walk all the way through the pavilion past all the shops and you'll come to a set of double doors on the left side of the pavilion, that's Marrakesh. They've had to go to putting a podium outside the pavilion to let people know that there is a restaurant inside so feel free to stop and ask the CMs at the podium where the restaurant is. One day we stopped to ask the girls at the podium about their outfits as they weren't in their standard "Marrakesh" CM outfits. They told us that what they were wearing was typical of what would be worn on a feast day in Morocco as it was an actual feast day for them.

It's not that hard to get reservations there. I've never had any trouble getting the day or time that I want. I managed to get a dinner seating for the 8:15pm Candlelight Processional dinner package with one of the the most popular narrators on a Friday night without any trouble.

It's not lackluster as much as it is random.

The Sopa Azteca is one of my favorites. Their Aztec coffee is a very nice after dinner drink. I have had some entrees that were good, others that were not so good. That's my main problem with the place, there is no consistency.

The top three in the WS for me would be

Chefs de France
Marrakesh
Biergarten - just for the stuff yourself, get loud, and drink liters of beer factor.

And lovin d reasons to hit biergarten :ROFLOL:

Last time I ate there I had the Chicken Bastilla appetizer and Chicken Kebabs for an entrée. It was delicious!

we had an appetizer plate of all different stuff that was outstanding. I had lamb shanks but I wasn't super impressed, though the mint tea was pretty killer. the ambience was cool :)

I haven't tried many restaurants in the World Showcase somehow. I think it's because on all of our previous trips to the World, we've gone during the Food and Wine Festival. Walking around and buying appetizers to pick at replaces a sit-down meal for us.

However, of what I have tried, I liked Bistro de Paris the best. San Angel would be second. The food there is nothing special, but the atmosphere is pretty nice. It's got nothing on the Blue Bayou in Disneyland as far as restaurants situated on rides are concerned, though. Other than that, I haven't tried anything, save the completely unremarkable Italian place.

On our next trip, we'll be trying Le Cellier and Les Chefs de France for the first time. I'm sure one if not both of those will rate in our top three after we try them. We also considered Rose & Crown, Restaurant Marrakesh, Nine Dragons and at least one of the Japanese places for this trip, but our schedule just didn't work out that way. Oh well, there's always the next next time.

3) The coral Reef before they changed their menu was really good, They had two Fresh Water Lobsters from Austraila on the menu that was to die for.

The food at San Angel is not bad, it's just .... there.

Take a look at the menu. If it looks to your liking, give it a try. If you don't see anything interesting, then pass it by.

I'd recommend San Angel Inn (Mexico), Tutto Italia (Italy), and Le Cellier (Canada). I had excellent meals at all three places, and you shouldn't be disappointed. :D
