Toontown train station at park opening?

Hey all...
I asked this a while back in another thread and didn't get a response, so I thought I'd give it its own space to see if anyone knows.

We're going to be at MK on the day of :xmas: parade taping and we'd like to find a way to get back to Fantasyland without having to go backstage down Main Street. If we take to train from the Main Street station, are we allowed to get off at the Toontown station at that time of morning? We plan to be there at park open, so we were wondering whether we'd be allowed to disembark there if Toontown isn't open yet.

Thanks!

You can take the train, but you won't be able to get to Fantasyland through Toontown. You would have to go to Tomorrowland and go to Fantasyland that way.

If you take the train back to Toontown you can walk thru the town and get to Fantasyland. (I think, but when I looked at the other response it makes me wonder if I am right?) If I have my map memory right you get off the train right in the back of Toontown and Fantasyland is on the right once you get back out of the Toontown area......

well if does stop there before it open an hour later you can walk behind toon town. we general do this about 20 minutes before and get off there to watch mickey and minnie say hello to each other when it opens. so if you can get off early you can walk behind toon town in to the land.

Can someone tell me more about this? Where exactly do you stand to see them, and what exactly do they do?

In my experience, we road from Main St. Station to Toon Town Station. We were able to walk through Toon Town to Fantasy Land entering near Pooh's Playground.
However, no parade was running at the time.

Toon Town does not open till 10 AM. You can take the train there whenever you wish, but you aren't going to get very far. There are ropes to stop you from entering most parts of Toon Town until 10 AM.

The ropes by the train station and Mickey's house are where Mickey comes out in the morning. Minnie sometimes waves to him from a far and sometimes comes to say hi, but nothing is set in stone there. One family will be chosen from that rope to be Mickey's first family and take a tour of his house along with a special meet and greet in the Judge's tent photo op.

From the other side of Toon Town, the entrance to/from Fantasyland, by the Toon Town Sign, 2 more families are chosen. One goes with Minnie on a tour of her home and then into the Hall of Fame for a special meet and greet with her and Goofy and Pluto (for now, during Christmastime). Another family is chosen to ride with Goofy on his Barnstormer ride. They then are escorted into the Hall of Fame/County Bounty for a special meet and greet with Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto.

As a general rule, during this Christmas time, that is how Toon Town opens each morning.

So, no, you aren't going to use Toon Town as a shortcut to Fantasyland unless it is after 10 AM.

If you have the ability to go backstage, I would use the tunnel or I would go backstage to the Tomorrowland theater and walk to Fantasyland. Personally, I'd park in the cast parking lot and get off at the tunnel and go upstairs.

Thanks for all the info, Gorjus. Is the family for Mickey picked right at 10:00, or do you need to be at the rope early to have a chance at that?

The gathering at the ropes for ToonTown isn't nuts like Tomorrowland or the front of the park, but people do gather. The families/couples are chosen about 10 minutes prior, I guess. I don't really know. Not a lot of set up has to be done. It is a toss up how early you have to be. You might make the rope drop, but not be first in line and chosen.
