Took Forever

It took me over 2 hours last night to plan our trip..you have find out when the "big" things are happening at each park, then plan according and then find the dining you want at the time you want that will accommadate everyone in your party..it's crazy..I remember on our honeymoon 10 years ago we would sit in the hotel room and decided where we were gonna eat the next day and just call...wow things have changed !! lol...on a side note..I wish I could get dh to try different restaurants..the only new one this trip the Askershuas..every other one is the same, same, same.....:shrug:

Only two hours? I've been planning my honeymoon for ten months, and it's not until July :animwink:.

If you're looking for a GREAT new restaurant, try Sanaa. It's only been open for a year or two but the bread service and the tandoori (insert meat here) are fantastic.

oh no, don't get me wrong..it takes longer..this was just figuring out what day to visit what park and etc...we were just there in September and this will be our 7th trip so that makes it a little easier..i am for different places to eat..hubby, not so much..he's very..uhm, stuck in his ways..lol...He likes what he likes and he doesn't like to change much..me i could really care less..i would do quick dining the whole time. but he likes his food and experiences

Really? ONLY two hours. I'll bet I have 30+ hours into ACTUAL planning, let alone countless hours lost on this site, watching planning DVDs, youtube clips, etc.

Just search "spreadsheet" if you'd like to spend some more time

Oh we have the new dvd..that's kinda what started this whole thing..I am working on the planning and I even thought a spread sheet might be a good idear..this was just night one..I didnt' count the amount of hours I spent analyzing and figuring costs for the different hotels..lol..It's gonna consume me for the next 5 months (and I can't wait!!! :ROFLOL what better thing to be consumed by??

I'd say it only takes me about 30 minutes to "plan" which parks and dining facilities we'll be at. Like you said though, I have to wait until park hours and events are announced first. Well, except for the MNSSHP, I guessed right that it would start on the 13th and it did.

I actually start with what parks I would like to do on what day...and what new restaurants I'd like to try..then when the park hours and special events are announced...I go back and readjust my parks for whatever day..insert the hours on my sheet....add in any special fire works or shows....type in the restaurants and rezzie numbers...and it overall changes several times before it's etched in stone LOL

My wife thinks I'm crazy...I've got spreadsheets listing restaurants covered in the DDP with ratings from different sites, lists that calculate how long each attraction takes and how long we will be at a given park, dining reservations made with menu items I'm going to order, and lists of what parks we go to what days and which attractions on those days (among other lists).

I told her that I just want our first time going to Disney (late honeymoon/early anniversary) a good trip with nothing being able to go wrong.

Once we are down there, I won't obsess as much (I hope)

We start a long list at 11 months out since thats when I pick and reserve our room (DVC). Then over the next few months, we'll go back and forth and discuss places on that long list.

Once we get closer to the 180 day mark, we'll pick the finals and make the short list. Then I'll build a spreadsheet, a sort of caladar looking type, and layout the dining, tours, and and special events for each day and the times I'll shoot for.

On the 180 day, I start making the calls and filling in the confirmation numbers. Moving things around when times and days don't work out.

When you lay out the early morning hours and late night hours, and place in events that would effect your trip (Mickey's Not So Scarry and Food and Wine for us), it really helps you see good days to place different meal locations on different days.

But overall, I do most of this 'cos I find it fun. Crazy eh?
