Too Old For Wdw?

At age 19 I had to pay for things myself, including vacation. By 20 I was able to afford my first trip to Disney. I've been twelve times since and am now 38.

Y'know, all of you sound like a terrific bunch of people to hang out with at Disney World, especially mystic's and lawyergirl's mom! :) All I can say to them is "YOU GO, GIRLS!"

My parents took me to WDW a lot when I was little because they figured when I got older I wouldn't want to go anymore and certainly not with them.

I'm 19 now and I have no plans to stop WDW trips with my parents.

My grandpa is 74 years old, and is a disney FREAK!! He instilled the Disney passion into my mom, who in turn did it for my sister and I. He is always asking me for WDW updates, and he always gives me Disneyland updates. I guess my grandpa is to blame for my Disney obsession.

He says he is at his most happiest when he is at a Disney park with his only two grandchildren. The look on his face is just pure bliss.

I am pushing 60 (very fast) and we have taken BigNorm since he was only 3. We have missed one year since then, and I do believe it was the unhappiest of our lives. There is not another place like WDW unless it is DL. Taking BigNorm there in 29 days for his graduation present (he wanted a 2005 mustang but settled for WDW). Yes there could be plenty of reasons her folks think she is "too old" and they are just using that. But less not condemn them or rebuke them, just feel sorry that they do not understand about the "Happiest Place on Earth".

speaking with a friend last night discussing trips to WDW, and she said that she has been pestering her mum and dad to take her back to WDW and they have turned round and said forget it you are to old for WDW, she is only 19 yrs old. what do you guys think:rolleyes:

I just think that they dont want to pay for it. It can get pretty expensive, but you are NEVER too old for disney, and that was a lame excuse.

I hate it when people can't see the magic of Disney. The whole point is to go and feel like a kid again!!

We went for the first time this year and my OH had the attitude of 'if we must' as it was a present for my 50th birthday. He told me before we went not to expect him to go to theme parks everyday  as we would look stupid as disney is for kids  . Needless to say he changed his mind as soon as we got to the parks and we had a fantastic time.

We went as two tired 50 somethings and came back feeling younger and happier so much so that we are going back in 3 weeks. :sohappy:

I hate it when people think that Disney is just for kids. I went a couple of times as a kid with my parents and although I loved it at the time I actually enjoy it much more as an adult now that I can enjoy it with the man I love. The best thing about WDW is that it gets better with age because you can learn to appreciate it more. Plus it's one of the few places on the planet where you can be a kid again and get away with it.

Most of the time people see Disney as a kid park because there are no huge thrill rides other then TOT and RRC. Most parks have a couple roller coasters among other thrill rides. What people don't see are the cool, unique rides like Dinosaur and Splash Mountain. Plus every ride in Disney has a theme to it including the tea cups. Also some stuff in Disney World you have to be older to fully understand them.

I will always go to Disney until I can't afford to go because of ticket prices. But until then I'll ride Splash Mountain unitil I pass out.

I think her parents need to come up with a better excuse. That's just lame. You can be any age and visit Disney, that's the idea of it. I mean, if you're going to just cop out of something, at least try to do it with a little style.

Oh My Gosh

No one, unless they act like an old person is EVER too old for WDW. MY grandparents go more than I do and they are over 60 ! Im 16 and I love it, so does the rest of my family !

I can't believe parents would actually say that about their child !

I have known people who refuse to go to WDW because they think it is "too expensive" rather than because they were too old. I think they just expected WDW to be like their local small-town amusement park, rather than a complete destination resort, so it caught them a little off-guard when they saw the actual prices. I recently bought into DVC and intend to take trips to WDW for many years. I am already planning our 40th anniversary party there two years from now and have loved Disney parks since my first trip in the late 1950s.

I'm so happy for you! I believe that it is even more magical when you discover WDW as an adult, took my 62 year old mother for the first time 2 years ago, no children in tow. She fell in love with it, calls me on the phone saying "When are we going again?" Another convert!

Let me use the words of Walt Disney on this one...

"Why do we have to grow up? I know more adults who have the children's approach to life. They're people who don't give a hang what the Joneses do. You see them at Disneyland every time you go there. They are not afraid to be delighted with simple pleasures, and they have a degree of contentment with what life has brought - sometimes it isn't much, either."

I'm 32, I went to WDW last month with my cousins (ages 48, 25, 21) and my aunt (age 64). They didn't even invite their grandkids! There's too much grown up stuff to enjoy (the resorts and restaurants specifically). Kids would slow us down! :)

You're never too old for Disney! I remember one time I was with my friends and we saw an elderly couple sitting on a bench and enjoying their time people watching in Tomorrowland. What was really cool was that they were wearing the bride and groom mickey ears and they were celebrating their 50th anniversary. It was cool just seeing that Disney is not only for the young, but also the young at heart.
