Too Cheap to do that at WDW

Beyond lodging and park tickets, WDW has offers numerous "pay to play" experiences. Is there an experience that you'd like to try but never do because you can't justify the price?

Mine is the Sea Raycers. I've wanted to do these for decades but they seem so expensive. Last time I checked, it was $32 for 1/2 hour. With 6 of us, I either have to rent 3 craft or have most of the family sit idly by while I fulfill a desire. I'm seriously considering giving these a try for the first time during our next visit. However, I suspect I'll be disappointed.

The Sea Raycers are really cool. You should try them. Granted, the price will be steep for you since you have to get three of them but it is worth it. I usually rent them at the WL. The Contemporary and the Poly tend to run out quickly.

I can't say that there is anything that I would not do because of price. There are plenty of things I am unable to do but if I had the money I would probably try them if I wanted to.

Any of the after hours events at MK. Sorry, but I feel cheated already that I pay full price to get into the park only to be told to leave early and then I have to pay again to get back in? Yeah, not gonna happen.

If park admission was a little less on those days I might consider it but after getting short changed on time in the park I'm not going to shell out more money to get what I paid for initially anyway. Yes, I know there are extra "freebies" and benefits to the special events but people so readily forget that what they consider "free" is really what they paid for to get back into the parks. It's all about the marketing spin.

I will likely never use any of the resort spa services. I've looked in to getting a mani/pedi while on property and it's ridiculous. It's so much more cost effective to take a cab to a salon in Celebration or downtown Orlando if you want spa treatments.

I think the biggest waste of money by far is Disney Quest. I visited once while we were Premier passholders and was so glad I didn't have to pay admission just to check it out. There's no way I could get my money's worth in that place. I find most of their offerings cheesy and/or uninteresting.

I don't know if they still offer it, but you used to be able to go backstage at The Living Seas, and even scuba if you're certified. Always wanted to, but it's so expensive. And outside of WDW but the same theme, Discovery Cove. $500 for the full experience pp is a little too much for me.

Speaking of DisneyQuest it would be nice if more of these things were part of the WP & more ticket option, the way DQ is.

Just want to let you know you pay when you get back and if you go over the 30min they are supposeto charge you for the next time slot so to be safe make sure you keep an eye on the time. With that said, a few times I've rented them the cast members have not charged me. This was 2 different trips at 2 different locations. Both cast members told me "Surprise, compliments of the mouse". Just wanted to pass that on because you could be lucky.

The carriage rides at Riverside are another thing I'd like to do but just can't justify. It's $45 for a 25-minute ride. Maybe if we were a family of four or five, I could handle that, but for just the two of us? Yeah, I'm too cheap for that.

Pretty much any of the tours. I have done the Oak Trail Golf but not any of the others. And any of the water activites. Now if money was no issue with us then I would be on these like mud on a pig. But with our budget I just can not justify spending the money(to cheap).

Hoop Dee Doo is great fun. It's totally worth the price. I've tried the Backyard BBQ it was fun, but I think I'd have enjoyed it more if we'd had kids with us. My DS did the scuba and loved it. I also like the mini-golf courses.

I think the stuff like para-sailing, water craft, and horseback riding can be done in other venues for less, and it won't take away from my time in the parks.

Would LOVE to take the surf lessons offered at Typhoon Lagoon one morning. As someone who has never surfed, snowboarded, or really even skateboarded, I feel like it might be a waste of my money though as I would probably spend most of my time just trying to get UP on the board! That, or just trying to stay afloat in the water! :D

$250 for tea time with Sleeping Beauty at GF.

I really am glad that they do offer a wide variety of experiences at WDW though for the many price ranges.

Seriously, there is a HUGE lack of value in staying concierge, but if that is your thing, it may be totally worth it for you.

If any of these "extras" were not being utilized, be sure to know that WDW would discontinue them in a heartbeat.

Remember the MK Scavenger Hunt tour? Very popular when it was included with the vacation packages. Not as popular when it cost $65 (more than the admission price back then).
