Getting Better!

Now I can't say anything about Tonys as I've never ate there mainly because of the poor reviews, however after reading this mornings review on DFB it's looking rosier, but it should be.Where's the competition? In my opinion MK could do with a top class TS restaurant.P.S. The spinach calzone reminds me of a Cornish Pastie crossed with a Beef Wellington.:wave:Iam talking about the photo on Foodblog.

If they would allow wine in the park then I think Tony's would be a great location and theme for a top notch italian signature restaurant.

IMO MK has the worst selection of sitdown resturants...Tonys is average...Liberty Square "family Dinning" is nothing special...and the menu at the Castle is limited...Im hoping the new places in fantasyland are better...

Man I miss the Diamond Horseshow Review!

I don't think it has ever been 'bad' but just not great. There are so many amazing places to dine in WDW that I would rather save my TS credits or my moola and go some place else. That being said, I love the idea of it. My DH and I have a thing about Lady and the Tramp so we have been twice. But its always been just decent. I am glad to hear that it is improving. I'm anxious for MK to get a "great" TS place to eat!

We had dinner at Tony's one night last year and really enjoyed it. It's still not on our must do list but it was pretty good......

I liked Tony's restaurant mainly for the lemon walnut cake, but I was disappointed to see it wasn't on the food blog's menu.

I have only eaten at Tony's once and it was in the 90's and we haven't been back since because of our experience there that night. I remember the flies around the tables..yuck! and my mom got VERY sick after that meal, she was stuck in the room the rest of the night and I'll never forget she threw my sister and I a bunch of cash and told us to go to the arcade so that we wouldn't be stuck in the room seeing her so sick like that. I never forgot about that, but I do hope its improved.

The pictures I've seen on blogs in recent years don't really do it for me. We are full italian so that is mostly the food we cook all the time and I know good italian food and Tony's just doesn't look good and I didn't like it when we went. Whenever I see the pics of the pasta dishes, it looks like plain, dry pasta in a bowl with a tablespoon of gravy on top, thats not good.

It sounds like these places are in need of an alcoholic option, not just to deal with being surrounded by all those kids (or that's just a requirement for me), but to forget that the food isn't great. It's kind of ridiculous that they don't but I'm just the kind of guy who loves a good drink with a meal.

Agree.

Yep,a meal without a nice bottle of wine is like a pineapple float with no pineapple.

I actually liked the food at Tony's when I was there in December. For the record I am also Italian, but in all honesty anyone Italian or not should not except Italian food at a restaurant to be as good as Italian food at home. I would say it was an average Italian restaurant... nothing wrong with it, but still obviously not as good as my family would make. I would eat there for a TS meal in MK because I wouldn't want to pay for Cinderella's Royal Table and the food at Liberty Tree Tavern really doesn't appeal to me (though I used to love it when the characters were there). I've never eaten at Crystal Palace or the Plaza so I can't compare, but I would probably do Crystal Palace for breakfast anyways.

First post in a long, long time. I haven't been around much lately...I think I'm gonna have to change that.

Anyway, we ate at Tony's before the Halloween Party in September last year. I had read some harsh reviews before our trip which had me a little concerned leading up to dinner. The food was ok... nothing special but nothing terrible. Likely my least favorite ADR we booked on our last trip but certainly not the worst meal I have ever had.

If they are trying to spice up the menu I would definitely give it another try in the future.

Always on our must do list each time we visit WDW, especially before/during MVMCP. Spouse just loves the spaghetti and meat balls. We have never had a blah meal there - so I guess we are accepting of just about anything :ROFLOL:. WDW MK is for fun - when we 'dine' we try to stick to the delux resorts. Have always had exceptional service at Tony's. Have already booked there this November.:xmas:

I've been living in the U.P. for 6 years now. Never heard of a pasty until I moved here. Can't believe I was missing out on such good stuff all these years.

Is Tony's still there in Calumet? Nothing beats a hot pasty and glass of chocolate milk. Making me hungry just thinking about it.

This is the attitude to have! I usually make it a point to avoid WDW restaurants that I have at home, and that usually includes anything Italian, because I eat it all the time at home anyway so it's time to eat something different. Plus, the "pizza" they serve at most places is a crime (Via Napoli excepted, of course).

I know good Italian food, and I know bad, so to be fair Tony's isn't anywhere near bad and is an interesting enough experience.
