my one time getting food poisoning at WDW was at Columbia Harbour House... from the chicken fingers of all things. I've gone back since and eaten them with no problems. I guess I got a bad batch

 Well, there has been food that made me sick just because I didn't like it. But nothing like food poisoning.

CBS in NY just had Part I of their report. They stated that 77 out of 150 restuarants had violations.

That means absolutely nothing. My parents own a professional hair salon and had three violations when inspected. None of them were significant, let alone life threatening. As an example, they didn’t have a sign posted on a cupboard warning of the potentially “hazardous” contents (It contained hair coloring materials and bleach). It’s a cabinet not accessible to the public, etc, yet a sign was required. Anyways, the three violations were rectified; however a few years later an inspector found one more insignificant violation. But how could this be if all the previous violations had been amended?. Well, between the two inspections, new regulations had been added to the list of violations inspectors should be looking for. Other hair salons in the area were cited for similar violations. So what I’m saying is that virtually every business, whether it be a hair salon or restaurant, is likely to contain various violations of some sort. And I can guarantee that WDW’s restaurants most certainly do not violate any more health codes than your own kitchen.

"And 8 people had food poisoning in 2003"

Wow 8 people, out of 150 restaurants, 365 days a years. Not to mention it's damn difficult to deterime precisely that the cause of your illness was due to a meal. What "news" stations will do for an "exclusive" story

That's about all I have to say on the subject. What a load of Mickey poo. If you believe 'how bad this is', i'm suprised you eat anything at all.

You have to think that there are more people who get sick that don't file a formal complaint, or don't realize it's the food that made them sick. But 8 complaints a year is a pretty good record.

It was noted that 77 places had one violation or more, not that they all had violationS.

Its a series that CBS runs although it might be up to the local affiliates if they want to show it or not. I know I saw one when we were in Bradenton, Florida last summer.

I agree that it was not the best report they could've done and if there were only 8 complaints out of the millions of people that visit there each year, that's pretty damn good!!!

I got ill after I ate at the Flaming Tree BBQ on my HONEYMOON back in November 2002 and did not once complain, except for apologizing to my hubby about being sick on our honeymoon. :hurl:

What better place to be sick in bed on vacation than at Walt Disney World?!?!:p

Keep the comments coming everyone!! Belle

I think there are more than 14,000,000 guest at MK alone each year. Even if all 8 cases came from just MK, 8 in 14 Million is pretty good. I wonder how many people last year got food poisoning in CBS's cafeteria?

Hum, Disney owns ABC and CBS does a negitive report on WDW. Hum, see any connection here?

"Tomorrow night they talk to a woman who saw a rat in a restuarant." Hey I saw it too! Um, no it was a rather large mouse not a rat. I've seen that large Mouse there lots of times. Why they even named him. Mickey, I believe is his name. Hum, named by a lady named Disney who didn't like the name her husband had chosen.

Tell me it isn't so. I love chicken fingers. Over 40 trips of at least 7 days each and so far no sickness from food including tons of chicken fingers.

Now back to the ABC/CBS thing. Hum.

Gotta go, my chicken fingers are getting cold and my beer is getting warm.

it is so.. but like I said before, that was the only time I've had any trouble with food at WDW. It was more than likely a bad batch

We have eaten in a lot of different restaurants in WDW & the only time I've ever gotten sick is when I've eaten something I know My stomach couldn't handle (so I knew I would get sick).

If only 8 people reported getting sick I think thats pretty good (though we don't know the number of people who did not report their illness).

Anytime you have a large number of people handling a large amount of food you are going to have some contamination.

I thought that this "news story" was completely bogus... they even said that WDW served 100 MILLION meals last year. Out of that 100 MILLION there were 8 reported cases of people getting sick!

As far as the health inspection violations go, the only thing they could come up with was that some of the food was being kept at temperatures that were a little too high.

We must really be hurting for things to put in the news!

I've gotten sick twice from food at WDW. the first time was admittedly my own fault (went overboard on junk food), but the second time I'm sure it was the food.

moral: avoid Cosmic Ray's. :lookaroun

This is redicolous. Law of averages. IT HAPPENS! who kno hat they ate the meals before or after that? The only case I have ever heard of with a food related Disney sickness was the salmanilla tomatoe thing. CBS wants your ratings. Don't give it to them!
