I feel bad because I've known the answer to this question for about a year, but I've enjoyed all the back and forth arguing, so that's why I've kept my mouth shut , but the new ties are a type of synthetic rubber. Apparently, they're supposed to last longer than traditional wooden ties.
Nah, they’re rubber.I’m sure they are plastic. And yes they do have a much longer life than wood. Also better for the environment not just because they use recycled plastic but they are not treated with chemicals like the wood ties.
Concrete ties themselves last longer than wood but are harder on the roadbed. We will see how plastic ties do both here at wdw and also on Mainline railroads.
I guess this is where the rubber meets the roadbed....Nah, they’re rubber.
For those who are interested, here’s a link to the website of a company that manufacturers rubber ties out of recycled materials. Pretty interesting.
Just throwing this out there. Synthetic rubber is plastic.
Guys, my brain is fried, and I’ve been barely functioning off of 6hrs of sleep for the past 48hrs. Maybe cut me a little bit of slack?I guess this is where the rubber meets the roadbed....
No. NO SLACK! That causes derailments!Guys, my brain is fried, and I’ve been barely functioning off of 6hrs of sleep for the past 48hrs. Maybe cut me a little bit of slack?
How and why is this still an attraction?
Are you finding it difficult to keep your train of thought?Guys, my brain is fried, and I’ve been barely functioning off of 6hrs of sleep for the past 48hrs. Maybe cut me a little bit of slack?
Because for many kids (including mine when they were that young), it's the first chance they get to drive a "real" car with mom and dad feeling safe that they can't drive head-on into a wall. How and why is this still an attraction?
I do seem to have a one track mind. Problem now is that it is quite often derailed. Are you finding it difficult to keep your train of thought?

Honestly, I'm amazed they've survived this long with some of the stuff they pull.
The conduit line is pretty gross.
...but the entire physical experience of this ride is just that, driving head-on into a wall... and backing into one.Because for many kids (including mine when they were that young), it's the first chance they get to drive a "real" car with mom and dad feeling safe that they can't drive head-on into a wall.
