Tomorrowland Speedway Accident

Yikes! Wishing the CM a speedy recovery

Was that a pun or am I just a sick-minded individual? Anyway, I lol'd then felt bad for lol'ing. :lookaroun

And is breaking a leg really newsworthy? Maybe in rural Arkansas, but in a major city like Orlando? Eh, doubt it. OS just looks for anything involving injuries at WDW so they can plug the monorail accident. Shame.

I doubt it will be closed. The speedway/autopia type attractions are anchor attractions in 4 of the 5 Disneyland type parks...

But anyway...I was just on the speedway last night and did not know there was an injury earlier. It's kind of funny because not only was i thinking about the idiot cheerleaders who kept bumping into each other at the unload zone and one of them was so set on bumping the girl infront of her that she blew past her unload bay to do so...

AND, while I was waiting to unload I was thinking "man, these CMs really aren't paying much attention to what's going on around them..."

in other news...my car was driving EXTREMELY straight yesterday with little to no need for side to side action to try to keep the car from hitting the rails! I was pleasantly surprised! :king:

Do they airlift people over non-life threatening injuries? I think due to the MK being so secluded he very well could of been airlifted because of that.

Maybe he could be facing amputation?

If it was the thigh bone and/or prior history of ailments, it might have been necessary to fly. Breaking your femur is excruciating and you can bleed to death from it. Plus the vicitim could have been complaining of abdomen pain or maybe even struck his/her head on the concrete. If the car travels far enough over you, it could bruise your liver or even rupture your spleen. You have to weigh all that when you are evualating the victim as well as look at the mechanism of injury. People can tear their aorta and be standing there talking to you for minutes until they bleed out enough to collapse.

Also, each jurisdiction has different guidelines and discretion based on weather, time of year, how close to an LZ, etc. And then some jurisdictions think that a chopper is never needed simply because hospitals are close enough.

it was a lower leg break from what I have been told... none the less, I don't question the decision to air lift.. if thats what they felt was needed, then so be it..

I think more than anything else, for anyone that was IN the parks yesterday (esp MK) and saw a helicopter coming in to the property somewhere, it was cause for concern. So I totally understand why it's newsworthy... I usually try to find out why I saw a helicopter or plane over the park too.

No, its newsworthy.

One person caused an accident that injured a worker to the point of having to be airlifted to the hospital.

Thats newsworthy whether it happens at Disney or not.

In the story i read (and posted!) from the Sentinel last night, there was no mention of the monorail accident.

That's one ride I wish they would get rid of. Too noisy with the same track announcement over and over.

I love it! I was just riding it last night and had a blast! (Reminiscing about riding Autopia in December and all!)

Wont happen. What 7 year old doesnt want to be able to drive their own car?

or 21 year old who enjoys riding at 7mph for a change...especially when the wait for SM was 140 mins last night!

Hopefully the CM is ok.

I hate that ride. A few years ago, I was waiting to exit when I got slammed from behind. My back was killing me for days. And I hate the smoke it generates. I guess since it has been there forever though, it will continue as so many people like it.

Did you see FHP out on the track? :p
