Tom Sawyer Treehouse?

The family just watched the 2008 Vacation Planning DVD and saw a quick blurb about a treehouse at Tom Sawyer Island. It actually showed about a 2 second clip and I have never seen this before. I have been over to the island many times and felt like have explored everything that was there but have never seen a treehouse. Is this new? (Our last trip was Nov. '07)

On a side note, I don't know if it's my DVD player but during the "main park overview" section for WDW, I couldn't get my player to rewind, only fast forward?!? Made it a small pain to see the "treehouse" footage more than once to try to identify the thing.

Among other things, there *is* a treehouse (of sorts) on TSI. It's on the front island, on the Big Thunder side. I believe it's closer to the docks than the windmill.

Though I think TSI in Disneyland has (or had) a more-elaborate treehouse.

I had wondered if they threw in some DL footage on the WDW preview but I wouldn't think they would do that. And the treehouse didn't look like much as you say so this "on the Big Thunder side" one may be it, but when did they build it? Just thought it was odd that they only really show "hi-lights" of the parks on these dvd's and the "E" tickets rides actually get mentioned with audio...yet they show and mention a treehouse on TSI?!?

not getting the fort or the swiss family treehouse confused are you??

No, no it was very clear the treehouse was at Tom Sawyer and I have never seen it before.

It wasn't a bad camera angle was it? There is a clubhouse there that I actually never noticed before until my last trip. As for a treehouse, the DW and I scoured the whole island for that paintbrush last summer and never saw a tree house.

That would not surprise me at all. I’ve seen WDW programs where they feature RnRC at DHS, but the footage being shown is from the RnRC at Disney Studios in Paris. I’ve also seen them use footage of the Mad Tea Cups at DL in WDW programs.

Clubhouse, hmmmmm. They called it a treehouse on the dvd but it sounds like that could be it considering I have never even seen this "clubhouse". Where is the clubhouse, when did they build it and when was your last trip?

Somebody has had to have watched the '08 Vacation DVD, has anybody else seen the footage I'm referring to. I'll have to watch it again tonight to make sure I haven't lost my mind.

Okay this was driving me nuts. I found footage of the Vacation DVD on YouTube, but it is the '07 version. However, they do have the exact same audio mentioning the treehouse but show different footage than the '08 dvd. If you care to watch, it comes at mark 2:41 in the video. (The '08 footage shows more of a full picture straight on shot of the so called treehouse.)

Yaaarrrgh, I've figured it out. It is Disneyland. Apparently they have changed Tom Sawyers Island there into a pirate-themed attraction.

The tree house was always there though but is not at WDW.

By George I think you've got it!! That picture on allearsnet ("the castle lookout point") is the one that has me sold. Great investigation sublimesting, I still can't belive they tout it as being at WDW on the dvd (sneaky disney folks!). They had me scratching my head wondering on this one. My boys thought we had found something new for them to explore on the island, oh well...we still have the caves. Thanks again sublimesting.

There is a chirldrens play house themed to look like it was build from parts of a ship. Its located on the island that you first arrive on and its located at the highest point just above Aunt Pollys. Its not a "treehouse" though but it is located up off the ground about 3 ft.
