Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

Regarding about the construction leaks, It does look like Rapunzel ride might get The Shanghai Pirates technology and as For peterpan we might get the Flights of passage type Attraction.

Based on its scale, I figured Frozen would use the Shanghai Pirates ride system. The ride system for Tangled, at least based on its circular loading station, seems to be taken from the Paris version of Storybook Land.

Doubt it will be anything this elaborate (plus it doesn't look like a boat ride), but maybe the Pixie Hollow attraction will be partly inspired by this.

Wait wasn't there a canceled Pixie Hollow type of attraction that was coming to the Magic kingdom and got canceled ? Or the area was just for meet and greets? If there was supposed to be an attraction within pixie Hollow, It looks like it made its way into Tokyo DisneySea.

The track layout really looks like not a flat ride but rather it might go underground or have a some type of water feature.
You mean the "leaf" boat ride from the concept art?
I think this is a variation of that...but won't be a boat ride. Maybe a bus-bar version of riding on a leaf through a small fairy type setting.

From my understanding, the Frozen ride will NOT be a boat ride, but rather a trackless ride type.
Also, I believe Tangled ride will simply be a calm boat ride like Storybook Canal in Paris, not with any heavy technology...the ride seems too short and Tangled does not seem fitting for a Shanghai type ride system.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rides appear to be:
  • Peter Pan simulator/Kuka-Arm-like dark ride in the Neverland section
  • Some sort of mini outdoor tracked ride based on Tinkerbell in the Neverland section
  • Frozen water ride/trackless dark ride in the Frozen section
  • Tangled boat ride in the Tangled section
Not bad for an expansion land.

The only thing missing from the park at this point is a major coaster, and that's probably what's coming next. Maybe a story coaster like Guardians?

Marvel is not that known in Japan... if you ask a Japanese kiddo who are the Avengers, I doubt they will know the answer.

They still have that plot of land next to Indiana Jones. But I am guessing a coaster will NOT go there, but rather some sort of River Rapids type ride...I feel like that would make the park complete, as there is no such ride in either DisneySea or the Main Park. It also fits the theme.
I just don't know exactly what the theming of it should be...maybe Moana, or something more adventure-y (like a raft ride through amazon based on the society of explorers)...or maybe even a fully fledged Indiana Jones land, with the IJA, Coaster and raft ride to complete it.

When it comes to "big coasters", I think they might keep that for the main park...and I am guessing maybe sometime in the next 10 years, they will expand Tomorrowland with Star Wars (now THAT is a known IP in Japan).

It really depends on what the Frozen ride is. I don't think that they'd add two major water rides in a row. But if it's a trackless ride, I can see the rapids ride happening.

However, I'd be shocked if we didn't see a new coaster at DisneySea in the next ten years or so. Both of the coasters at the park are off the shelf models and low capacity. All the recent additions to TDS have been on the lower end of the thrill scale.

Whatever it is, I hope it's done well and the land (or ride) uses the space available to it's maximum potential. After Fantasy Springs, we got the plot next to Indy and then the park is completely landlocked. Any further additions will come at the cost of another attraction.

Disney cannot use Marvel in Japan. Universal Studios Japan has the rights.

If I remember correctly, the contract only prohibits usage of characters already existing at USJ. That makes Spider-Man the sole character off-limits for Disney in Japan. But Marvel films (excluding the Avengers and Spider-Man) are usually box office bombs in Japan, so it's not a popular franchise to begin with.

I often like to look at Disney Parks and sort of Imagine how/what could be expanded. It seems like there is actually another plot of land.
Right next to Toy Story Mania:

I always felt like that area could fit some more Toy Story I.P. and create a sort of mini Toy Story area, but of course, in the same New York Carnival/Circus/Trolley Park themed context. I think it could fit a wooden coaster...a more romanticized version of a Slinky Dog Coaster.
Maybe a vintage-train-toy inspired coaster built on wooden toy cube-like structures, but have it be more thrilling.
This could be an inspirational pic if you will:

Lol, I don't know...just some Food for thought.
I think a Vintage Toy Box type wooden roller coaster with a bit of Disney magic could end up being cool and exciting AND unique.

That's not a half-bad idea, actually. I'd love that. But isn't that land used as a bus parking lot? That might be hard to relocate.

Personally, the last thing I think any Disney park in the world needs is more Toy Story IP.

Anything beyond adding Midway Mania to the existing Toy Story areas in Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and my love for the parks dies a little more.
But this is not a thread about Hong Kong, Shanghai or Paris. It's about Tokyo Resort.
I would also never say no to a cool ride. As long as it's original, more than a flat ride and not "off the shelf".
There is no Toy Story land in Tokyo (thank god), but that is what would thematically fit there and could be a superior version to all the other ones in the world.

Yes, I said I don't want more Toy Story anything anywhere in the world, and Tokyo is part of that.

They're already building the hotel. That's enough Toy Story for TDR.

Maybe TDR could make an amazing ride if they really wanted to, but even they barely did anything to plus TSM. Nothing I've heard about the forthcoming hotel makes it sound like it's going to be much better than what already exists in Shanghai. Therefore, I think it's likely that there's a 99% chance that anything even TDR builds with that IP will be junk.

Maybe slightly shinier junk than if it was to be built anywhere else, but junk nonetheless.

Tokyo DisneySea deserves much better than junk.
